Why is the picture on my wide screen TV cut-off at the sides of the screen? eg. When I watch sky sports I can only see half of the results that are shown on the RH side of the screen. I have similar probs when watching some sub-titled progs.

Is your Sky box set for the picture to 16:9?

Press the Services button, System Settings, Picture settings and make sure the top one (Picture Format) is set to 16:9

I'm on cable hopkirk. Can I do the same operation on that box? Thanks for your answer
I don't know, you will have to experiment.

Also, is the TV set to 16:9, or Auto?
Find the 'Aspect' button on the remote control, and press it to scroll through the settings.

I've altered the aspect button on the TV, & still get the same results. So, it's down on my knees for a quick meddle with the box ;-)
Was it ever right, or was it always like this?
Question Author
It was never right. I tried it on all settings on aspect control.
Perhaps the cable digibox is faulty.

I'll tell you the results when I've had a fiddle about with the cable box. Thanks again for your answers.
Is your tv a HD one or an older type? You may have a sky hd box and the old tv does not support it. You will need a HD tv for proper use of a sky hd box.many tvs that aint hd will be ok to view the full screen but some just dont what ever settings you change. This is also the case with some virgin media cable reciever boxes. they require a hd tv to have the full picture on the screen. Iv experienced this myself.
Yes ... a TV picture formatting problem

Sorted! Delved into the settings menu & found the wide screen setting for the cable box. It's easy when you know how:-))
Well done.
