advert coming up, no doubt!
Cynic!!, but to answer, how about where you bought it from?
Surely the sales person tried about 57 times to sell you an extended service plan when you bought the camcorder!

(p.s. I agree with rojash on this one)
Why on earth do you want to buy an extended service plan? Most people put a lot of effort into not buying one, when being hassled by a sales assistant.
"(p.s. I agree with rojash on this one) "
Wadya mean on this one? You're supposed to agree with me on everything :-)

The only 'good review' of extended warranty plans is one that recommends you not to buy one in the first place.
These things are insurance-backed warranties, damnit.
Which means all the premiums go into a big pot, the seller of the policy takes his big cut - probably 30% of the premium. The insurer then deducts his management and overhead charges and profit - probably another 20%.
Which means that of your premium, let's say only 50% goes into supporting the Camcorders (whatever) that break down.
It's bad enough having to be forced by law to buy insurance on motor vehicles - don't waste money when at least you have an option.
I wouldn't buy one myself- usually the manufacturer's warrany covers a certain amount of time and after that, especially with electronics these days- it's often cheaper to buy a new one if the old one breaks.

But I do know a several people who speak highly of the Square Trade warranties for high end electronics and such, so if you are bound and determined to get one, that's where I'd look for a start.

Hold up!!!!

I wasn't expecting the advert answer to come from the Ed!
If a company has no faith in their product, why offer an extended guarantee?
Not an ad, just answering the question to the best of my knowledge.

:-)

albaqwerty has a point!

also to be serious.. In my experience most electrical stuff goes wrong within the first couple of months if it's going to fail! if it lasts a year the chances are it will last the next couple. So I wouldn't bother with extended warranties
(sharp intake of breath) I am trying not to report the ed for advertising, should i risk it for a biskit and report Eve anyway?
I like the Eve Ed, Chuck 'IT God & Lord of the Cyber Wave' Fickens...........she's good fun :0)

( sorry Chuck, i just HAD to see your full title...............LOL )

chuck thank you

would you please be nice and have a look at my bootmgr in computers section

I think it's a problem and a half!
sod it it can't be one rule for one and one for another I;ve reported the Eve Ed for blatant advertising
Sorry to be offensive, I had no idea answering the question was advertising! I won't bother looking them up anymore.

Jaffsmith, you'll have to look the link up yourself if interested as I've had to ban the answer to your question.

;-)

EveEd
I should think so Eve, tut, dispicable
If the ed has no direct link to the company they linked to then it can't be classed as advertising.
I say the ed should put the link back :-)
If we all got answers banned for posting links then nobody would ever get the help they need from us on AB.
EveEd, sorry I was just yanking your chain,

albaqwerty,

I've looked at your question, you're right it's an interesting one :)I've subscribed to it and I will get back to you, I have a few ideas but will need a few more details before suggesting one
