sony EPG guide plus

hi
just got a sony dvd hard drive recorder, however i want to use the EPG guideplus+system. i can get the digtal guide which gives me the basic EPG but want to plan ahead then just day by day, any help would be great thanks,
tried what it says in the book, but still wont do the full guide

The Guideplus is only for setting analogue recordings, not ones broadcast on digital Freeview.
You set each one up under the settings menu / analogue tuner for guideplus and digital tuner for the freeview channels. The EGP is 7 days so you should be able to set recordings for up to a week in advance. If recording from the digital tuner setting series link to on will record all programmes in the series (such as Heroes) so you only need to do one timer recording for all 26 episodes. The Sony will also remember this programme (as long as you don't delete it from the timer list) and will record the repeat for you.

but still cant get it on, left it on standby for 24hours like it says, but still asnt appeared.
