I have a pc with two user accounts on it and I want to leave a message for the other person who uses the computer. Is there a way of doing this so that it will come up on their desktop the next time they log on?

The easiest way would be to send an email.

The computer isnt online or even on an intranet (strange I know). So is there any other way to go about it that you know of?
Could you create a third user account on the computer, where you both have the password?

Information to be shared could be put into this account and accessed easily.

There is probably a much easier way but this would do the trick.

Thanks for the help, but I was thinking more of a popup type message. Ive seen it done, albeit a long time ago, on windows 98. Perhaps it was a program specifically designed to do this type of thing. Thanks again.
I know it's very untechy, but couldn't you just stick a Post-It note on the screen? At least until you come up with a better way?

Isn't that what the shared documents folder is for?

My problem is that the information I want to pass on is mostly confidential so post-its are out Im afraid. Moreover, I cant be sure shes going to check messages that Ive left e.g. as I have access to her account, I have in the past left folders on her desktop entitled PLEASE READ ME with a big question mark icon, and she hasnt even noticed them. I was looking for something that would be blatantly obvious to her and something only she would be able to read after signing on to her p/w protected account. Thanks for the suggestions though.
Maybe, in light of what you've added and as Ether originally said, an email would be the simplest and best way. You could mark it URGENT in the subject line, and add (your name in brackets) in case she mistakes it for spam.
Snook - the computer isn't hooked up to the internet.

I've had a thought! I'm sure there is a calendar programme that can be shared by users, and has a pop up reminder feature.

Does anyone know of it? I think that would be ideal for greendog.
goto c:\documents and settings\all users\desktop. create a new text file or something there, call it what you like. that will be available on both your desktop and the other person's.

i know there are other ways of doing this, with some app or other, but not sure what they are. certainly are out there though.
Another idea... not ideal but unmissable... write a big message in Paint or preferably something better, save as a jpg and set as her desktop background....?
