OH has had his operation on Friday cancelled.
They had decided a few days ago he needed a heart scan before the op.
They say they haven't a vacant slot before Friday. It was originally said he could have the scan at Cheltenham instead of Bristol to make it easier for us. When they telephoned this morning they denied it was going to be at Cheltenham, saying they do not have means of communication at Cheltenham,
I mean what are telephones for?
He is so disappointed, he thought he was going to be sorted out so much sooner.
Sorry folks, in case you didn't know he was due a cochlear ear inplant on Friday. We had booked a hotel for two nights and friends were driving us down to Bristol and bringing us home again. So he is back on the waiting list.

Oh what a disappointment! So sorry for your husband.
Oh dear. I hope things get sorted out soon.
How unfortunate, hope they find a slot soon.
Oh that's not good Caran, you must both be very disappointed. Hope he gets a date for his implant very soon.

At least it's not a life threatening condition!
What an awful shame after getting his/your hopes up - hope it's soon sorted.x
Sorry about your news, but obviously heart scan is what the hospital deem necessary before op.
From dealing with my mother being transferred from one hospital to another,it was as if no one had given anyone else the info that was needed! Treated well in each hospital, but they all seemed to be unaware of what had happened before she got there :-(

Yes bunkmoreland, it is incredible the lack of communication between different NHS facilities.
Yep,I assumed there would be "notes" or a "file". Not the case, I had to explain what "her history" was every time. With a dementia patient it was even worse. Hope it works out ok for you x
What a shame for you both, I hope it's all sorted soon, with a minimum of fuss.
how disappointing for you both, i wish you all the best and hope it gets sorted out sooner than later.
Sorry to see that caren. Sheer incompetence.
Sorry to hear your news Caran but if he's got to have a heart scan then it has to happen. Its for his own good but so maddening that things change at such a late stage. Hope he doesn't have to wait too long for a new date.
I spent a good part of my last few years working for the NHS on a project to centralise information so it could be shared between facilities. Do you know who were most against it? The patients!
LOL....LOL....^^^^ very true woofy......our patients must not be inconvenienced.
I expect the patients were more concerned with abuse of their information or it passing out of the NHS for reasons of privacy and avoiding encouraging Big Brother. Access within the NHS must be less controversial.
This sacred privacy issue concerning one's health issues is kinda funny in a way since most people seem to be quite willing and eager to share their hospital/doctor interactions with family, friends, the post-man, the butcher, baker, candle-stick maker, the next-door neighbours, and social-media sites:)
Seems pretty archaic to me if your medical history is not available at all medical centres. Here, no matter which hospital/ clinic GP you visit, your history is immediately available to them when they enter your ss number, plus all medication is on your card, which you present at any chemist monthly. For retirees, a maximum of 8€ can be charged per month, no matter what medication you are on.
I am sorry to hear this Caran, I hope it is sorted soon.
