Garbled photo problem

Every so often my Olympus FE500 turns out these, and usually needs a card format as it won't work when it has done. This was a single one, but the same problem. The camera usually works and don't want to change it, and did drop it once which may have coincided with the first instance, but just curious why this should happen and then work perfectly again?
