Ad- blocker

There are lots of ad- blockers to be found on google. Which ad- blocker is to be recommended? Do they have any unfortunate side-effects (apart from annoying Ed, as not being in the spirit of a free site)?

I'm using btinternet, which is IE, I think, and the latest version of Windows.

Start using Firefox as your browser and install Ad-Block Plus. You can disable it on sites like AB so as to not wind up the Ed :)
As Daffy indicates, most people around here use Firefox together with Adblock Plus (which is also available for use with Chrome).

If you insist on using the dreaded Internet Explorer, this is widely recommended:

ad muncher is the very best one to use
If you have Internet Explorer, the simplest way to make the Answerbank site behave is to disable macromedia Flash Player: select:
Tools/Manage Add-ons/Toolbars and Extensions/Shockwave Flash Object
And Disable that process.
You will need to Enable that process when it is actually needed (e.g. for BBC i-Player or any correctly designed site).
I have no idea why the problem with the Answerbank persists after so many months. They must have the most incompetent website designers.
