Question about Live Messenger

A message box from Live Messenger is popping up on my computer saying "You have signed into Messenger on another computer. Click here to sign in again."
Can anyone tell me why this might be?
Thanks

Self explanatory really. Either yourself or someone who knows your login details has signed into messenger on a different computer than the one you are currently using.

It logs you out of the original computer so you can only be logged in once.

Possibly, but it's more likely that you have signed on to a different PC. Do you have more than one computer in your house?

I just have the one computer in the house and now I am a bit worried. How serious is it if my MSN account has been hijacked and what do I need to do?

I don't use messenger but can you change your password for it?

..if someone is using your account, highly unlikely

more like you have logged in at work and not logged out

however msn can be glichey
so change the password to be safe then
update windows and get the latest version of live msn

run a virus scan (people have been known to send stuff via msn) you may have a trojan

Hi souldriver. I use windows live mail for my email and always have it open and running.
I am always connected to the internet so when I am online the windows live messenger is always 'live'.
This never caused any problems until a few days ago when it seems to sign me out of messenger and it also sometimes says that I am working offline.
I am sure that this is an easy issue but I don't understand the 2 programmes well enough to know what is happening. Any suggestions? Your comment seems to suggest that the 2 can't work at the same time - is that right?

you dont have anyone using XBox live do you?
when my son signs in there (because he used my email address to register) it signs him in and gives me that message

No, nobody using XBox but thanks for the suggestion mycats.
My main problem now is that it keeps saying "you are currently working offline" and I have to click to sign in again. I just don't know where or what to check to see what the problem is.
