Virus Threats

Hi all hopefully someone can help me with a problem that has just occured.

I was browsing AB a short while ago & when I clicked on a page to view I got a message saying "Warning this page is under attack from viruses" I then had a program called Security Shield pop up & tell me I have lots of viruses & other nasty stuff.

I have the McAfee Security Centre installed & that is telling me everything is fine, so I was thinking it was another program trying to make me part with my money, but I can't see how to get rid of it (can't find it in the program list). Now every 5 minutes or so the darn thing pops up again.

I'm using IE7 (yes I know it's old but when I try to install IE8 I lose all internet connection) & the OS is Windows XP

Please let me know what other information you might need
BTW when the box comes up it looks a bit like the Windows security centre except when I looked at that it also said everything was fine

Download and install malwarebytes, let it update and run a full scan with it, remove whatever it finds.

(note it will offer you a trial of the full version when you first run it, you have to click decline at this point)

Thanks Chuck I've downloaded that & am running a full scan now
I was conned out of £12 with Security Shield !!!! They get you to pay your money and THAT'S IT... They don't DO anything and you cannot get in touch with them KEEP WELL AWAY!!!!
I have had the same problem, twice in the past 2 days, and both occurrences happened whilst browsing this site.

easily dealt with.

but clearly there's an issue here, either with AB itself or one of its advertisers.
Ahah, I think that we are getting warm with what has happened to the AB site. Cross-links to bad advertisers?

As long as your McAfee is up-to-date, I would expect it to block this scareware, but somehow it has got through. Malawarebytes should find and destroy the malware, but please report back either way.

Hmm. There is no rational reason why upgrading from IE7 to IE8 would break you Internet connectivity. Don't forget to allow Internet connectivity in the Windows Firewall (Control Panel / Windows Security Center).

Urgently suggest that you contact your bank immediately and tell them that you "may have been a victim of Internet Fraud". This may well reduce your liability if your bank account is compromised by fraudsters. The PIA is that you have to change all access details to your bank account which may leave you cashless for a while.
I am not a lawyer or a Financial Adviser.
Anvisoft team developed a special tool to kill security shield 2012.
The name is security-shield-killer, the name is security-shield-killer.

Alternative way to remove security shield:

Step1, Stop its fake alert by activating the fake program with the debugged code, 64C665BE-4DE7-423B-A6B6-BC0172B25DF2;

Step2, Run a full scan with your anti-virus program; If your anti-virus program can't detect the Security Shield virus, I suggest you download Anvi Smart Defender to kill it;

Step3, Restart your computer to completely remove Security Shield virus.

Good luck.
