I use Outlook on Windows 10 When checking my emails they've started disappearing automatically at about 3 second intervals. I then have to go back into my inbox to read and delete

I want to connect a monitor to my laptop for karaoke. My lap top has HDMI and USB.  The monitor has Display port and USB. Do  I need an HDMI to Display port cable or something else?
