Erasing free space on local disk e

Hi anyone can you tell me what i have to do to solve this problem
I am trying to erase free space on local disk e and i just keep on getting a message ( Erasing free space on a driv requires elevation )
any info to solve would be much appreciated

What do you mean by erase free space?

Anyhow, you need to log in as an administrator account.

I suspect the query was about "erasing" rather than "free". I assume you are hoping to overwrite any "deleted" data in those areas.

I've no idea what your error message means but wonder what application you are using to try to "erase" the free space.

OK, I assume to make sure deleted files can't be recovered....

You've not said what you are using to do this, but try right clicking on the icon for it and selecting run as administrator. If you are logged in with a user account that has admin rights then you'll just have to click yes to agree you want to run the program elevated, if you are logged in as a user without admin rights you'll need to supply a user name and password for an account that does have admin rights.
