I treated myself to a designer pair of frames - John Rocha- they were £125 plus the lenses. Yesterday I went to put them on and the right arm literally just fell off. I took them to where I bought them and said look it's just fallen off, they're only a couple of months old. Had the Spanish Inquisition! Have you stood on them? No. Have you sat on them? No. Have you dropped them? No!
He then says he'll need to replace the entire frame. Why? Coz pin has snapped. Erm just replace pin?? No can't do that. Well how much will this cost? Same price as you paid in first place. How come?? Oh because these lenses won't fit in new frame so we'll have to replace them too.
Forget that I told him - that's ridiculous! Well try superglue he said, and off he walks!!

that's amazing. I've had the odd screw fall out, and I've just walked into the first optician I've come to (this is round Oxford St, the West End etc) and they've just fixed them on the spot, for free. Same happened when I was in France last year.

huh ?

You need to go back and read them the riot act - 2 months for a pair of specs is not reasonable.

I'm completely gobsmacked tbh
Go back again and ask to speak to the manager. In fact you should have asked to speak to the manager after Mr Rude Face walked off!
Bazile, I didn't get that either. ???
yes, from a legal point of view, 2 months is clearly not fit for purpose. I'm just astonished they even put up a fuss about it.
Smow....I thought they had a three month no quibble guarantee....have a google around and see if you can find anything.....x
I've always found Specsavers to be really good.

My 3 kids have worn glasses from a very young age which has meant lots of breakages and they've always fixed FOC.
Just because they are 'made for you' does not excuse the retailer from providing a product that is fit for purpose - two months is ludicrous unless you have treated them especially negligently - go back and threaten them with Trading Standards.

Specsavers looks like a 'big company' - but actually is a partnership of small local opticians using standardised branding and products - which makes it tricky to escalate complaints - so you need to push hard at your specific shop.

I'll have to dig out the receipt for them. I would mind if I'd paid a tenner for them!

Ahh excellent!! Thanks Baldric! Ironic thing is the guy didn't even check when I bought them - he just didn't want to know.
Then he's a twonk! I've always used specsavers because they've always been so good. It's 4 people in my household wearing glasses...
We use Specsavers, and they have always been very good.

To be fair, both mrs B and I both use Specsavers and have never had a problem with them. Mrs B used to go to a very expensive One Man Band Private Opticians, when I needed Specs I went to Specsavers and she couldn't believe the service I got and the difference in price, she converted very quickly.
I won't pay much for glasses being the clumsy cow I am. My last visit to specsavers...eye test and two pairs of glasses £123.
Same here. We both use Specsavers and are happy with eye test procedure and product. They were brilliant with advice and help when I had cataracts develope.
I dread to think what profit margin is being made on your glasses sold at £125 plus the lenses. Print off the information that Baldric found, take it into Specsavers and don't leave the premises until they fully resolve the issue to your satisfaction. Once they have replaced them, then ask for a full apology from the idiot that suggested you use superglue. Whatever you do, don't say, 'forget it' again. If they don't know consumer law, then you need to get Trading Standards involved. Good luck, and remember the law is on your side.
My kids all used the opticians at the hospital. Specsavers still fixed their glasses for free.
