Why do Christians call the day they remember their saviour was crucified, GOOD Friday

I heard because it was God's Friday which became corrupted to Good Friday.

No other day in the history of man has such a selfless deed been done for so undeserving a people ie Jesus dying on the cross

According to Brewer's dictionary of Phrase and Fable, 'good' here simply means 'holy'.

Here in Greece we call it Big Friday, and it's followed by Big Saturday.

In truth, nobody knows why that term has evolved. Some of the lingua franca suggestions are as those above but generally in the Church itself it is considered a �good� day for mankind, a day to remember when Jesus� suffering enabled our own salvation. As nannyjill has said really.
