While most people want to hear the truth in such matters, it is a sad fact that when it comes to even more important matters dealing with life and death, with one’s relationship to God, and with one’s obligations to his fellowman, many do not want to hear the truth.(John 17:3)

repeat : Goodlife For the record, at my age 86 , I couldn't care less about death, but I have always sought out the truth , which to me means something that it can be tested. Your quotations from the bible are meaningless. They are mere words written by man for man to try to understand the world, based on nothing but wishful thinking and assumptions.
You say the truth is in the bible but, if the truth is there, why don't/can't you answer questions.
Goodlife Ask yourself ; What would your God wish you to do ?
Surely he/it would want you to explain in your simple words what is in the bible . If your numerous bible quotes fail to answer our questions then it is up to you answer them in non biblical words. In fact you are failing your God in not doing so. He will not be pleased with your failed efforts. He doesn't like failure as seen in the OT .

Shall we try a simple question once again so I might Hear the Truth :
Why did God repeatedly kill vast numbers of infants , babies. and the unborn still in the womb ?

Maybe one of your fellow believers will help you , although I doubt it.

Simple you said it at my age 86 , I couldn't care less, so it your lost.

Today many people have a short-term, materialistic view of life. In effect, they say: Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we are to die (1 Corinthians 15:32) So in your joy life, if that all got.
"Today many people have a short-term, materialistic view of life. In effect, they say: Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we are to die"

And rightly so, since we have no reliable or compelling evidence to suggest that there is anything at all after death.

@Modeller - excellent innings! :)

Well you can resist the short-term thinking, you can have a clear vision of the future if you want to achieve it. (Proverbs 21:2-5) Do not limit your thinking to the 70 or 80 years of a typical human life span.

Instead,do what, millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses visualize yourself enjoying the everlasting future that the Bible describes.

Whose name will be found written on the scroll of life spoken about at Revelation 17:8? Yours? Or Mine?

"Instead,do what, millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses visualize yourself enjoying the everlasting future that the Bible describes."

The bible might describe an everlasting future. Millions, not just JWs, might subscribe to the notion of life eternal - but that is based around hope and fear of mortality rather than any evidence. I choose evidence over myth every time.

And why should I care whether my name is written in a book or not? My life is measured by my contributions in the here and now - the effect I have on family and friends and loved ones and colleagues and acquaintances and once-strangers that I meet on my travels along lifes road. I do not need to tug my forelock to an imaginary future and live my life hoping some fictional character is going to write my name into a book!

Goodlife, //Whose name will be found written on the scroll of life spoken about at Revelation 17:8? Yours? Or Mine? //

Oh yours, definitely! Like all control freaks, your God just loves sycophants. ;o)
"Instead,do what, millions of Jehovah’s Witnesses visualize yourself enjoying the everlasting future that the Bible describes. "

I don't want to believe what the JWs believe - goodlife, your argument is no argument, only a repetition of what you have been brainwashed to believe.

"So in your joy life, if that all got"

Is English not your first language?

.... and well done, modeller, for your longevity thus far!
Goodlife . Admit it you have failed your God ! He killed millions of innocents and you can't find a single word in his defence.
//A Witness will commonly claim that they alone have the truth because they alone understand Bible doctrine correctly, and hence only they worship Jehovah....

Arguing doctrine will rarely convince a Jehovah's Witness the religion is wrong

//

you really should read this website Goodlife!

http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/faithful-discreet-slave.php

Are your leaders 'faithful and discrete slaves' ? Where are their miracles? why have their predictions not come true? why does Watchtower doctrine continue to change?

/why does Watchtower doctrine continue to change?/
It's all about profit margins Jake
It's very arrogant for one group of people to claim that only they can understand the Bible correctly - what a cheek.
boxtops //and well done, modeller, for your longevity thus far! //

Thanks ! What is more, the older I get the more atheistic I become.
The more experience of Faith and Religion that I aquire , the more I realise what nonsense and hypocrisy it all is .
What I do not understand is why theists do not attempt to defend their religion. I can only assume they agree and justify the literal truth of their holy books. If so why don't they say so ? I could at least respect their views, but instead they hide behind biblical quotes , the meaning of which is disputed by thousands of other interpretations.

You know Jesus said and did a hundredfold more than other people do in a lifetime.

So there was no mistake about what I have heard the timing and the setting could not have been better.

Because all says is what Jehovah spoke the first time. He meant what he said in the first place. (2 Peter 3:10) you lot prove It.
Goodlife, I don't know what you're talking about. What do you want us to prove? Could you please be more specific?
Finally a post from goodlife that isn't cut and paste.

One can always tell when he writes it himself because what he posts is compelte gibberish.
I strongly suspect that English is not goodlife's first language.
2 Peter 3:10 ( C & P)
New International Version
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.
"The heavens will disappear", do these heavens include the one you're going to goodlife? Incidentally, you obviously enjoy preaching, who will you preach to in your heaven?
