While most people want to hear the truth in such matters, it is a sad fact that when it comes to even more important matters dealing with life and death, with one’s relationship to God, and with one’s obligations to his fellowman, many do not want to hear the truth.(John 17:3)

What can possibly be more unfaithful - and thus untrustworthy - than a person who has undergone a religious conversion?

If they had so little loyalty to their previous faith as to abandon it, why should they be expected to be any more loyal to their new faith?

In fewer words, what the frell is the point of preaching?

Oh, I'm forgetting. It's about getting people to change their last will and testament. Got to keep SLC all nice and shiny, eh?

Seasons Greetings to you.
Is that the same as a boiler conversion Hypog?
You know when you download a piece of software or sign up to something online and are presented with a lengthy 'Terms & Conditions' page? What you do is just scroll to the bottom and click 'I Agree'.
Essentially, that is religion.
Goodlife I still waiting for you to reply . Y
Hi Goodlife !

No one who knows GL will be surprised to read that
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

and bears v little relation to what he has written (again )
@dunnitall,

Is religious conversion the same as a boiler conversion?

Hmm, whatever the joke is, I'm not getting it. If you explain it to me, it won't be funny any more but don't let that stop you as I'd love to know what you're getting at.

Took us a little while to suss out why we got so much attention in our area but you have no illusions hypognosis. Its legacies from those whom they think are reasonably well off (present company excepted).
Modeller - “Goodlife I still waiting for you to reply”

And wait you shall!

Goodlife doesn't really do all this 'answering questions' malarkey. His mind is occupied by other, more pressing matters - such as cutting and pasting biblical text into the Answer Bank for reasons best known to himself. He uses biblical quotes in lieu of actual argument and when the biblical quotes in question do not support his position, he simply ignores that fact and presses on regardless. In fact, I don't think I've ever really witnessed a more obvious example of 'blind faith'.

I do so hope he proves me wrong though on this occasion!

Goodlife - Please attempt an answer to Modeller's question in your own words. Pretty please, with angel dust on top.

We are listening to lies every day of our lives by one person or another. I don't take any notice of the politicians because they are always lying.

I don't listen any more to the clergy because they are lying. I see them on TV when there are various "religious" occasions such as state funerals and all I do it turn it off. They lie and lie and mislead - its a wonder their noses don't reach round the earth.

In some cases, even those you trust tell you lies.

There are those on this site who are probably lying.
If you think man was made in your God's image, what more can you expect? He was a liar too.
Question Author
When a political chief speaks, the entire nation listens. When scientists comment on the latest scientific achievements, the world sits up and takes notice. When foremost figures in the entertainment field talk, their every word is treasured. But when God speaks, do the people listen to him? Does the entire world sit up and take notice and treasure his every word? When God speaks, do you listen!

What if you had lived at that time and you were given everything you ever needed. Time and again God gave his people everything, food, shelter, protection and even their sandals never wore out. All he asked in return was their obedience. Would you have agreed knowing that you wanted for nothing and that you could live forever?

The people had that choice. Since the maledictions manifested God’s disapproval, even as his blessings manifested his approval, the nation, as individuals and as a collective group, had to choose between the blessing and the malediction and this they could do by either obedience or disobedience. They could choose life or death.

Today people have the same choice. It is not what I say, It is all there in the Bible for you to make that choice.
I was with you right up until
'even their sandals never wore out.'
And then you blew it.
^^ Haaa!

Goodlife, //When God speaks, do you listen!//

The last time he was alleged to have spoken was over 2000 years ago. I’m not that old.

//All he asked in return was their obedience. Would you have agreed knowing that you wanted for nothing and that you could live forever?//

No, but then unlike you, I have principles.
Naomi@ No. God is not the liar.

Remember Jesus said to the Pharisees, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." - John 8 v 44

And Titus 1 v 2 tells us "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began"

So no, God does not lie, but man following the Ruler of this World, Satan, does.
So where can I buy these everlasting sandals?
Goodlife I'm still waiting for you to tell me why your God killed over 2 million and was it justified , especially the slaughtering of the new born ?

Is this your answer ? .
//All he asked in return was their obedience//
//they could do by either obedience or disobedience. They could choose life or death.//

A simple yes or no will enable me to read past the first 20 verses of Genesis when seeking the truth, which you told me is in the bible.
ideosy. //So no, God does not lie, but man following the Ruler of this World, Satan, does. //
So Satan is the ruler of the world ! In which case God is not Omnipotent !
Impotent would be a better discription .
idiosyncrasy, God was a self-confessed liar. One example:

//And if a prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the Lord have deceived that prophet.// Ezekiel 14:9
ideosy //I don't listen any more to the clergy because they are lying.//
//There are those on this site who are probably lying. //
Does that include all their excerpts from the bible.?

//And Titus 1 v 2 tells us "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began"//
God failed to deliver on that promise and being as he knows everything , he knew it was a false promise . So he lied as well as being impotent.

Do you believe in the truth of the bible ?
I've just read the bible was written by man , not God, therefore any lies are man's lies not God's. In addition all the lies were by the prophets which God used to tell his lies.
//1 Kings 22:23; Now, therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.
2 Chronicles 18:22; Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets.
Jeremiah 4:10; Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people. //

Didn't God say to Adam if you eat the forbidden fruit " you will surely die ".
Another lie , he didn't die.
