"Different Roles"? Sounds like the standard justification for sexism to me - usually underpinned by pointing to some holy book or other and saying "look, it says so here".....
And don't start with the 'why do women convert?' nonsense. We've been through that ad infinitum - but I will say again. Muslims do not hold a monopoly on mixed marriages. Look around you.
no, however much you want to believe, islam is good for women. Back when the west wouldnt even let women vote, many muslim women had far more rights.
No naomi, the only reason you avoid it is because you have no logical answer besides your usual reason of "marriage". Women are converting. You cannot avoid that.
What's inferior? Being a housewife? Or being 'made' to be a housewife?
Is the Koran wrong? And throw the Hadith into the mix too if you like. Was Mohammed wrong? Just answer the question.
Women who marry Muslim men convert. Had they met and fallen in love with a Jew, they would convert to Judaism. Islam isn't special.
than a hell of a lot of western women are marrying muslim men.
Do they have to convert? Is that the only option?
Haaaaaa! And a hell of a lot marry non-Muslims too. Lightbulb, you are funny. Never mind marriages - answer the question.
i have answered the question. women do go to mosque. That is what the original question says and i have answered it. I dont have to answer your question as you have yet to answer mine.
it takes a bit of reading but worth it.
and emmie, thanks for that article, as it backs up what i have said so many times. That arranged marrages are cultural, not religious, as are so many things.
can you point me to that bit, i have reread it again.. i was interested in the interfaith marriages, surely that has to be a good thing.
from the same article

Being raised in a country that promotes tolerance and acceptance of others, they do not see themselves any ‘different’ to their non-Muslim compatriots. Increasing numbers are rejecting some of the cultural norms on offer, such as arranged marriages and family introductions. Instead seeking partners for themselves, who are an intellectual, financial and social equal.

Radically, challenging their boundaries has meant that growing numbers are choosing to marry out their faith.
Lightbulb, what was your question? Why do women convert to Islam? Usually because they marry Muslim men - but I suggest you read Em's link.

Now, is the Koran wrong - and was its author, Mohammed, wrong?

perhaps it's like the bible, open to interpretation.
emmie, here it is (its in the 4th paragraph)

//Being raised in a country that promotes tolerance and acceptance of others, they do not see themselves any ‘different’ to their non-Muslim compatriots. Increasing numbers are rejecting some of the cultural norms on offer, such as arranged marriages and family introductions. Instead seeking partners for themselves, who are an intellectual, financial and social equal.//

naomi...i hav read ems link.
Lightbulb, you haven't understood it though.

No answer for me then? I have to go now, but I'll be back in a few hours so you have a bit of time to think on it.
