Re japanese reaction to emperor's tv appearance.
Just got my friend's answer machine in Tokyo - I may have left it too late, it's after midnight there and she has to be up early to open up her pharmacy and sell more face masks :-)
Anyway, I'll report back if I speak to her tomorrow.
Cheers

Same here in Essex - dark, dank and miserable. Just been chatting to PC Plod at the front door. On Sunday, around 12.15 at night - I just looked out of my bedroom window before going to bed and saw a white transit van pull up across the road - a lad got out and walked up my road. I swopped windows (neighbourhood watch, you understand) and saw the lad coming back down the road carrying something in his hand.
The white transit van was waiting for him - when I focused my eyes,I realised he was carrying my neighbour across the road's plant pots - he then broke into a run, got back into the van and disappeared.
I told my neighbour the next day, what I had seen, so she obviously told the local plod.
Now I know, its not the crime of the century and did laugh, when he was taking all the details down on his little pad. He asked me for a description of the plants (:0( you have to love em.....
