Whisky.
I don't get out much but I never come back without a book. Last count, 38500.
Red Wine :o)
Wow Sam. Where to you put them all?
Forgot to mention, all hardback and must have dust jacket.
Art materials. Paint, brushes, canvas, paper, etc.
Question Author
douglas, whisky is a
necessity, not an extravagance
When we built our house, my mother was coming to live with us, my wife's decision not mine. She passed away during the build so we converted part of the house into offices and a library, still has a little space.
I know Daisy, but when I say that I get 'the look' from the boss. :)
How long did it take you to count them Sam?
Question Author
Douglas, I am a past mistress od the look
How many sam???? .
And white wine, and a lovely iPad.
Still have lots of books but not buying more as I struggle now to read them.

Craft supplies, red wine and slippers are what I seem to accumulate.
I'm going round Sam's house!

Kindles, books, Stitching things, magazines (stitching) DVDs, Scrapbooking things and throws I have a thing for throws!
I still have bookcases of books, more than I will ever be able to read in my lifetime. I also have loads of perfumes and perfumed body sprays.I never leave the house without putting a spot of perfume on.
Sam, how many have you read?
New socks instead of mending them!! I used to be a single parent years ago and had to be very careful with my money so if I got a hole in one I had to mend them! The only thing I hated mending so when I got together with my new partner I swore I would never do it again and luckily I never have had to do so!!
Sorry, been tied up on another thread. We counted the books three months ago when we had the library extended. With regard to reading them, I have severe insomnia and read at night,I tend to try and read each book as I buy it. A substantial number are reference books on many diverse subjects. I also collect gardening reference books, some very old, some quite valuable.
Due to the Grenfell fire I now have 7 balls, 4 large & 3 small fire extinguishers & 2 more due from son in France....ye gads!
I used to be skint, so my extravagance is being able to think "What the heck? I can afford it", if I want a slightly more expensive wine, or some books or clothes. I'm still my (Yorkshire) father's daughter though, so I don't go mad.
