Was reminiscing with my mum earlier.
Realised that I actually havnt got an 'earliest' memory.
Do you?
I find it odd that some people can pinpoint a memory and say that its their first.

I can remember a few things from first year at primary school aged 4 but can't remember which occurred first.
I can remember starting school and have a few vagueish earlier memories.
I have lots of memories from when I was about 3/4 yrs old. Like first home, outings, friends, house fire etc.
Lying in what would have been a carry cot, on the dining room table. Family seemed to be being quiet. (No it wasn't yesterday either.)
My Dad telling me Custard the Dragon when he tucked me up, must've been 2 or 3 years old? I still know it off by heart :) x
I've got two possible 'earliest' memories. One, I'm standing in my cot with my head between my legs looking at my mum in the doorway. The other is going up a lighthouse with my dad while my mum stayed outside with my sister in her pram. I'd have been just about 2 in both of these.
erm we have had this before ....
young children do have memories but they seem to start again around 2 1/2 - which is when your earliest memory usually begins
We dont have an internal clock - but I can remember a painting ( that I now have) being painted and it is dated.
May 1955

I also remember my father having to pay for petrol AND having to have something else - I think that was petrol rationaing with coupons in 1956....

the above is an example of internal dating
there is a big industry in this in History and archeology
I remember being fed porridge by my dad in my high chair on a rainy day while mum hung the washing up.

I remember the first hypo i had too when I was 3, but not much else really sticks in my mind.
Being a Bridesmaid aged 4 and people kept asking for a curl.
I remember walking around an overgrown garden with little red Wellington boots on. I also remembering being in a bathroom and the smell of Imperial soap. My Mother told me many years ago, that is when I stayed with my Auntie & Uncle and a older cousin, as my Mum had just had a new baby daughter. I am 2 years a couple of months older than my sister. So I would have been 2 years if age!
Sitting under a table in parent's first flat...also clearly remember the layout of rooms and neighbours...they left that property when I was 18 months old...
Gross, but I remember eating little balls of poo that had escaped from my nappy while sitting in my pram.
Are you there wasn't a rabbit in your pram, Caran? :)
Remember my first day at school but nothing before that.
That's a possibility Cloverjo!
Being in hospital aged 2. Remember being in a cot and boy in next bed screaming. Remember a nurse telling me off for bed wetting and being upset. Also remember my parents collecting me and bringing me a toy dog. In those days parents were only allowed at visiting time and I was apparently there for a week. Good old days!
I'm the same. No particular memories just bits and pieces even up to when I was 11/12 and even after. I often think it's quite strange or maybe I just blocked it all out.
My earliest memory is the moon landing in 69.
I was 4 years old.
Funnily enough I can remember most of the kids in primary school, but only a few from the two schools I attended from age 11. I really didn't like school from age 11.
I remember seeing the trains, we lived in Warwick opposite the shunting yard.
