There was a recent report about the benefits of taking 75mg of aspirin on a daily basis .

However , i beleive that some experts are warning about the danger of taking aspirin - internal bleeding etc .

So what does one do - take it or not ?

I have also been taking low dose (75mg) aspirin for about 10 years and in the last visit to the Cardiologist (Nov) he advised I take 2.

Now you have me worried. I'm going back to one now.

I've bought what I thought was standard Aspirin for this purpose, off the shelf in various supermarkets.. and they all seem to be 300mg.

I've not seen a lower dose.
Can´t one still but...Junior Aspirin?
chemists stock them ie 75mgs.
You have to go to the pharmacy Sara, they are not on general sale. They're dearer too. Mine are 75p for 100.Anywhere Boots, Tesco, Lloyds. (Price may vary)

Theelf.....unfortunately not.......Aspirin is slowly absorbed and many of these bleeds are in the small intestine....15-20 feet away from the stomach when the digestion of your lunch has long past.

treetops...yes, I knew that, but I just wondered if low dose aspirin was still called "Junior Aspirin" but Jemisa has given the answer.
I swallowed 49 Junior Asprin aged 18 months.............and it never did me any harm :o)

wow, I only popped out for a sandwich and half the posts are gone!

thanks, I'll look into that at the pharmacy. I'm healthy now, don't want to make a fool of myself by causing problems ;o)
Jesus Christ, Jemisa! If a qualified doctor has suggested you take two apirin, s/he's probably got a good reason for it. If you're worried about what a bunch of (almost certainly) unqualified people say, speak to your GP, but do not just adjust medication on the mere say-so of us shysters and frauds!
It's a shame that every post made by the theelf which Sqad responded to has been deleted by AB. If I'd have seen these posts, I could have provided my opinion on them. What a shame!

Mrs Prof, who is a senior cardiology lecturer at my university has advised her clinical team for many years to advise patients that it's beneficial for them to have milk in their stomach before taking their low-dose aspirin therapy. MIlk helps to protect the gasto-intestinal tract from erosion caused by aspirin in susceptible individuals but does not have any effect on the bioavailability of the aspirin the body. In recent weeks, the UK medical agencies have finally accepted the wisdom of this advice and are shortly due to recommend that all patients ingest milk prior to aspirin therapy.

I won't bore you with the statistical data, but the case for drinking milk before taking aspirin is now overwhelming.
75mg enteric coated aspirin is available on prescription or on request from pharmacies.
