It was reported in The Sunday Times in a full page article that a 75mg dose of aspirin taken daily can help to prevent a heart attack and cancer. It said that a lot of doctors take aspirin. If preferred, soluble aspirin can be used.

75mg. of aspirin is in fact a very small amount, if your gp prescribes it, id say take it !

My husband is prescribed Asprin and Statins.

Listened to a lengthy discussion the other day. 75mg of asprin is just 1/4 of an asprin - a very low dose indeed. The incidence of stomach problems is very low as Sqad says. Personally, I am going to start taking it.

I would think if you are taking blood thinning drugs, e.g. Warfarin, then taking aspirin might be dicey and you would need to check with your doctor.

dont take warfarin and aspirin together

Had a problem Bednobs when my mother was given a blood thinning drug as well as aspirin. Every slight scratch or knock and we couldn't stem the blood flow.

lofty.....the coumarin blood thinner would need to have the dose reduced to make it compatible with the effects of the aspirin and that dose would be determined by regular INR readings.

as far as i remember from pharmacology lectures, aspirin and warfarin bind to the same receptors
