A gravitational field exists around any body having a mass. The Earth and any person standing on it will exert an equal and opposite force so the person will "stick" to the Earth. (and the Earth will "stick" to the person)

Such events are never reported because those who have ventured to close to the edge along with those who were close enough to witness it are never seen nor heard from again.
