A can of Sainsbury's Basic beans and sausages apparently serves 3! I am in the middle of eating on of them for my lunch and I have just read the label and it contains 90% of your RDA of salt! Add two slices of bread and some marg to that and I won't be able to eat salt until Friday! What are Sainsbury's thinking, for a start it's false advertising saying that one can serves 3 people and with the amount of salt in it you'd think they were trying to kill all their poor customers! I am absolutely raging! Although saying that, perhaps it's just my blood pressure!
Why do people always assume that beans create so much gas ? They don't always, sweetcorn is much better.
You're right about serving sizes, or maybe it's just that we all overeat. Vesta Paella - server 2 - like heck it does ! Serves 1 and that's a push even with additional frozen king prawns.
BTW, has anybody seen Heinz London Grill recently ?
I absolutely love that stuff, much better than HP All day breakfast.
Gosh whiffey, I never knew you were a connoiseur of fine foods. Do they still make Vestas???? As a youngster I tried their beef curry once and have to say it looked like a tin of Pal. What was the one with the crispy noodles on?
Skreech, try having a lie down in a darkened room!
Screech, just think of all the fiber you will be getting from consuming a whole can of beans. I do admit I also eat the contents of a whole can at one sitting. Sometimes I mix different beans and corn to make a delicious salad.
I have now finished my beans. Had to leave about 20 of them as I was full as I had a cheese sarnie and it was Hovis best of both. I am now full of beans, or possibly buzzing off the sugar that was in them, 14g of sugar!!!
Are they as cheap as the basic ones? My point was, Sainsury's are killing poor people! I had thought they were an ethical supermarket but sadly having experienced their beans I am beginning to change my mind!
Vesta Paella is the only one I like, and it's only a starting point anyway. I always add loads of black pepper, basil, oregano, extra hot chilli powder, chopped naga chillis, and frozen king prawns. I have to be prepared for vivid dreams from the additives and chest pains the next afternoon, presumably from the chilli.
