Finding a happy medium is best. Employing someone you don’t like can create disharmony and that isn’t good for business.
maybe it's not always easy to decide who will be the best person for the job
Keep your enemies close to you
Boris Johnson was surrounded by backstabbers. Truss is wise to surround herself with those with whom she shares a mutual trust. She'd be foolish not to.
Odd though that as Conservatives they should all be pulling in the same direction, shouldn’t they?
Recent weeks have exposed the deep divisions within the party.

Better to appoint those with whom you may have disagreements at times but are capable of delivering what is required, as opposed to someone who is just loyal but when necessary will not actually tell you what is required and expected but will paper over the cracks as the house is crumbling.
The previous PM notoriously surrounded himself with bootlickers and sycophants with no real ambition for the top spot but who wheeled out diabolical defence after pathetic untruths over the inexcusable, making themselves looked decidedly foolish, but never at his expense.

When you perpetually defend a liar, you inevitably get tarred with a certain stain, like so many of the ‘new’ cabinet.
Same old, same old.

Odd statement about someone with a huge 80 seat majority?
Well, that is until the real Johnson came to the fore, the serial adulterer and habitual liar who lied to the Queen, parliament, colleagues and public alike, until the parliamentary party could stick it no more and realising he’d jeopardised the party and their chances at the next GE over lying about knowledge of a predatory sex pest had to oust him ASAP, he was toxic for all their futures.
Even when they did drag him kicking and screaming from office like a petulant teenager he clung on, convincing them he had to stay on for a couple of months.
They stupidly agreed whilst crises deepened and the country descended into meltdown whilst he holidayed twice and went on jollies with the RAF and others.
What a laugh he’s had at everyone’s expense, not least his party’s reputation.
Boris Johnson on the contrary surrounded himself with his supporters! (Apart from Gove) Just like Liz Truss appears to have done.
Johnson’s problem was people lost patience with him.
I think it’s best to pick a good variety of talents and NOT just your supporters.
Apart from anything else a few healthy disagreements are not a bad thing,
I don't see anything odd in my statement at all.

As you were.... ;)
I was hoping the change at the top would be mean a breath of fresh air on here but its seems its more of the same old same old rolling out the nasty comments and name calling.
Can’t see any nasty comments or name calling here?!
Boris Johnson was surrounded by backstabbers

I disagree: he surrounded himself with mini-mes much as Truss has. In the end they'd had enough of being told to defend sex abusers and the like and revolted, and the same could happen again. I always thought Boris had his finger on the public pulse but he got it hoplessly wrong by partying while others were being fined thousands for doing the same. Truss may make the same mistake, or not.

Boris did plenty of backstabbing himself of course, that's how he got the job. There's a reason Theresa May doesn't wear the sort of open-backed dress Carrie was sporting yesterday: you can see the scars.

As Ichkeria said, care to point out where that’s happened on this thread?
Or are you disagreeing with the assessment of Johnson because you were a fan and are feeling hurt by the truth?
Reality check for a few.

Watch and digest, you’ll learn a thing or two.
a person is elected as an MP
there is no guarantee that he can run a ministry

or as Boris may well put it -
Antigone: Creon - No man can be fully known, in soul and spirit and mind, until he hath been seen versed in rule and law-giving.

well I am not gonna get much more chance now - innnit

time to return to the plough
haw haw haw
Fatti - your hate will be more destructive to yourself than to anyone else.

//Would you care to dispute any of the events I’ve pointed out that are borne out in the link also?//

No - because then you would just spout further bile.
Lol, so you don’t want to counter any of the posts I’ve made about Boris?
I guess it is tough to dispute the truth, isn’t it?
Have you even watched the BBC link?
//Lol, so you don’t want to counter any of the posts I’ve made about Boris?//

No I don't - what I dispute is the wisdom in your rattling on about it ad infinitum when it's all over & done with. Get a life!
