Several famous people now dead have openly admitted committing acts against boys and young men which at the time were illegal and some still are. If such an accusation was made against one of these men, would the police investigage it or just presume it to be true? It would be easy for a reader of a certain autobiography to have enough details for the claim to be believable.

As John Inman died in 2007 I don't see Justice being served in any way by this investigation.

maybe; that's presumably why they investigate it. Perhaps the complainant has details that don't appear in biographies. It's hard to say whether he's got anything to gain from all this.

As far as I know, John Inman didn't write a biography.

not necessarily books: any interview may provide biographical details and obituaries probably did likewise.

Well I can name two famous actors who have admitted their offences in their autobiographies but not named their victims (if they even knew their names). These two have not been investigated by the police to my knowledge.

Since there is no chance of a criminal conviction the police have no business investigating. They are constantly complaining that they do not have sufficient resources to investigate various crimes. Perhaps if they restricted their investigations to matters where the alleged perpetrators were still alive their resources would be less stretched.

If the alleged victims want to seek redress against the deceased’s estate via the civil courts that should be a matter for them.

I have no idea of the truth of this allegation but what is sad is that yet again one party will not be able to defend themselves.

Mamy...I think that major studies have shown that child molestation IS greater in male homosexual relationships, but not in Lesbian relationships.
