String and door knob?
Cloves, or crush a paracetamol and place it one the tooth.
what drugs have you taken? A cold pack on the cheek can help. Wrap a packet of frozen peas in a pillow case and hold it on the affected area. If you can get to a chemist then something like oil of cloves used on the tooth and gum will help to numb it.

paracetamol And clove oil but all the clove oil seems to do is burn my gum and make me feel sick
Whisky
Yes, liquor will numb the pain. Swill it around your mouth, and leave it there for a few minutes. You can either swallow it or spit it into a glass and use it again.!
soak some cotton wool in clove oil and either hold or bite down on to the painfull tooth. Leave the cotton wool in place as long as you can. It should numb the area around the tooth a bit. Tastes vile but should take the edge of the pain. Add some max strength pain releif too and it should be bearable for you until Monday!
Alternate paracetamol, then 2 hours later ibuprofen. I find ibuprofen works better on toothache as it is an anti inflammatory.
can only offer you sympathy...hope..you find something soon...
ouch, back tooth or front tooth? If it's the back, I found a hot water bottle helped, as well as oil of cloves.
I find rubbing Sensodyne on area eases the pain.

As tamborine says rub sensodyne on it - dentist's tip
Once the penicillin kicks in the pain should subside a little. Try rubbing bonjella on the tooth or applying bonjella to a wad of cotton wool and biting down on the tooth. If the pain is not substantially better in a couple of days it may be worth ringing your dentist -surely he cannot expect you to wait a whole week in agony?
Not much worse than toothache in my opinion, but at least you have had the sense to go to the dentist right away. When the antibiotic kicks in it will feel better but may take a couple of doses.
