I have just been "named" weird as I tend to go at 7am on a Saturday, I do this as I can't stand the parents that allow their little darlings to run riot and for some oldies to use it as a social gathering.. Hence why I go as early as possible to get my groceries and get out before the rush.
So when do you go shopping or do you use online/delivered services. I also refuse to use the online services as I always seem to get the just about end dates on the food and mostly the shop tends to get the items wrong and their substitutions are just ridiculous.
Kat you are not alone, when I lived at home we went as early as possible normally before i went on my cleaning shift.
Now i go when my hubby is on a rest day and that is usually late in the evening -we even went once at 1am!
I have been shopping mid week before, late morning etc and I generally find that there are hardly any checkouts open and the queue is horrendous and I will absolutely NOT use those bloody awful self service checkouts, they are so patronising!
kat, I also go early on Saturday, with moh of course.....I might be an oldie but not one of your social types...well not at the supermarket anyway.....get there and get it done early means the rest of the day is free for other more important things ..footie watching at my local for example. ;-)
weekly shop monday morning and buy enough to last the week except for bread, milk, which i go again on thurday. i try to avoid weekend in supermarkets. weekends are for golf or other pastimes not shopping.
Usually between 8 and 9am on Saturday morning when it's quiet.Last week I did an online shop-after the van had left discovered I'd ordered 6 packs of apples instead of 6 loose ones -customer services were very nice and arranged for a collection and refund.Actually it takes me so long to do an online shop I'd be quicker going to the store.
I have occasionally gone shopping just as the store opens. However, I see little advantage. There may be only ten people in the store, but then there is only one checkout operating, so you spend just as much time waiting as you would if you shopped on a Friday night.
I do mine online, took be a while to get the hang of it, used to take ages, now I've got it down to a fine art and takes 20 mins. Love it, I can double check what I need, save a fortune. Could not to go back to over an hour in the shop. No problems with what I get and if I don't like anything they take it back no question.
I go early on a Saturday morning too, (working all week). Alternatively if its a nice day we might have a walk along the beach, have some breakfas, lunch or a cup of coffee and go early afternoon. Its often just as quiet then when the main Saturday morning rush is over.
The very best time to shop is when England are playing a football match!
My favourite times for supermarket shopping are at around 5pm in the Ipswich Asda ('cos they will have just reduced lots of goods for the second time, making them really cheap) and around 10pm at the BP service station at Junction 28 of the A12 ('cos they'll have just reduced lots of their M&S foods -often normally costing over a fiver - to a flat price of 50p each!).
Otherwise, when I'm not looking for short-dated bargains, my favourite time to shop (usually in the Ipswich Asda or Copdock Mill Tesco) is at around 3am. I love being surrounded by all of the shelf-stacking teams (and earwigin' all of their gossip, of course!). I sometimes go shopping after my late posts (in the early hours of the morning) here on AB. It's only because I sometimes have a few bevvies while posting here that I don't do it more often!
I try to shop early as there are 2 sheltered housing units nearby and after 10:00am everywhere is hoaching with wrinklies who seem to have nowhere to go and all day to get there.
Drives me nuts, so it does.
