My boyfriend has told his children no body art or piercings until they are over the age of consent as he doesn't like either of them. He has 3 children and the older one has not felt the need , however the middle child has turned up for a visit sporting a great tattoo flower on her wrist. My boyfriend is most angry, he thought he had the law on his side. Now apart from the fact that the blooming thing is now a permanent feature he is feeling so angry with the ex wife who consented to it. I am not looking for advice, just to let off steam !!!

sorry guys , the girl is 15 !!
I'm almost certain its illegal under 18. What does her mum say?
The Tattooing of Minors Act 1969 made it illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to be tattooed.
It *is* illegal. Well, I'm 99% sure it is, anyway.
I think that's disgraceful, that the mother consented to it.
People are prosecuted for it:

B00 it was her mum that let her have it done, :(
she may end up regretting that tattoo when she grows up, I suppose thats why you have to be an adult to have one
I'd be bloody furious.

Yes, for ABH and the tattooist under the Act.
The mother should be made to cough up and get it removed! How irresponsible.
I'd seriously look into this is I were you, as I suspected then, it is illegal and it should be dealt with further.

Good luck!
are you sure that it's a permanent tattoo, and not one of those very realistic permanent ones?
Hard to believe any mother would consent to this at such a young age! Against the law, as far as I am aware and so the tattoo artist should be hauled over for this as well as the mother! I think you will have to stay out of it flump1, but I really think your boyfriend should have the tattoo studio taken to court for this!! Having a tattoo removed is not so easy and probably painfull too! So, not sure this would be an option. Dad will have to be careful as it may mean father and daughter falling out big time!
Yeah, get the scrubbing brush out Flump, and see if it comes off!
You'll know if it's real, when it turns bright red and starts bleeding... :P
