Different things work for different people and different headaches.

If all the usual don't work, paracetamol,Ibuprofen etc it may be worth asking GP if they can help find the cause of the pain.
Yes.....Ibuprofen providing of course you take the right dose.

200mgms is useless......400mgms is appropriate......

Your GP has inded checked you over and made a realistic diagnosis.

I rang Ladbrokes to ask what odds they would give me on Sqad's answer but they wouldn't take the bet.
LOL^^
I take migraleve. They're quite good. These tablets come in two stages depending on the severity of your migraine.
Headaches and migraines are two completely different things and drugs for migraine won't work for headaches
Sharon, the OP doesn't mention migraine.
breadstick,...I'm surprised at your GP suggesting aspirin......did you tell her (or him) that paracetamol didn't work for you?
As Mamyalynne says,
''Different things work for different people and different headaches.''
I've always found a combination of Paracetamol and Aspirin works best for me like in Anadin Extra but I always buy the shops own brand as they are a lot cheaper. Here is a link to the ones I buy from Tesco.

My mistake. My headaches always turn into migraine.
.\\\\ My headaches always turn into migraine.\\\

What do they start off as?.....;-)
Aspirin always worked for me until I went onto other medications that it doesn't interact well with.

If I were getting 4 bad headaches per week and no relief from OTC meds I would return to GP.
Hiya Barsel ;)
The trouble with those combi ones is that they contain caffeine,...I know the idea of that is to speed up how they work, but I've started having headaches again lately, and before I go to the GP and go down the codeine route again, which I really don't want to do, I'm experimenting with paracetamol alone, alternating with ibuprofen. As I drink de-caffeinated coffee, it seems crazy to have it in my painkillers.

Breadstick...have you tried cutting out caffeine?

x x
wow, I must be a slow typer,...Mamya, Sqad + Sharon weren't here when I started....
Hiya Baths, I don't mind the caffeine as my headaches are usually when I'm feeling tired so these particular tabs make me feel better.Get your butt over to Technology and solve my problem, I know you are ace at that. :-) xx
I'm already there Barsel, + blimey,...you're older than I thought....l m a o !!

Sqad they start out as a mild headache - maybe it is the beginning of a migraine - then I go blind in one eye and start feeling nauseous. As soon as I take a tablet, I am able to see a little while later.
Sharon...I was trying to be funny.............but clearly failed....:-)
Bag of frozen peas rested on forehead for a few minutes always clears a headache for me
Don't apologise, I am always the last to grasp anything funny!! :-)
