I am in Wetherspoons and there is a heated atmosphere due to Wetherspoons announcing that staff will not be wearing poppies this year due to multiculturalism!! Some folks are up in arms.
I cannot see no notice a anywhere to state this so meanwhile I will carry on getting sloshed!! :-)

Wear 50 as a customer then, whilst you are there.
It's not true - it was a fake news post by a self-styled "parody" twitter account.
I know this isn't true, Sharon....but what the hell...just get sloshed enough to stand up and sing.....

Land of Hope and Glory....just for the craic...... ;)

Are Wetherspoon curries any good ? I mean compared with a good Indian Restaurant. There's one up the road from me but it's never occurred to me to go there for dinner.

Sticky carpets, cheap booze, happy days....that's Wetherspoons

here's one for you, Sharon,

A Group of blokes, all aged 40, discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the barstaff had big breasts and wore short skirts.

Ten years later, at age 50, the friends once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the barstaff were attractive, the food and service was good and the beer selection was excellent.

Ten years later, at age 60, the friends again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace and quiet with no loud music, and it was good value for money.

Ten years later, at age 70, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled.

Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because they had never been.
Good gal have the MASSIVE burger and chips ( and another drink ).
They're not bad at all and quite tasty, OldG.

When compared to our three favourite Indian restaurants, not really a comparison.....but a decent enough meal.......
When in Spoons, I usually go for the Vindaloo, sometimes the Tikka Masala, which are lovely, hot and portions are good too.

Here's the menu for Curry Club every Thursday all day....

Can you really imagine Tim Martin (founder and CEO of Wetherspoons, staunch Brexiteer and all round good bloke) ordering his staff not to wear poppies?

Yes, OG, WetherCurries are surprisingly good. On Thursday there is a choice of about six or seven. All come with rice, naan bread and poppadoms for about seven quid with a drink. Like everything, you pays your money and takes your choice. If you want the full blown "curry house" experience go somewhere else (and pay a lot more).
Well put, NJ....agree with you :-)
Trust Tony!....He'd buy you the next drink, Sharon....just to see you dancing on the table!

And no.....I don't know that from experience!!!! ;-)
just to see you dancing on the table!

Mmmm maybe, gness.
what about if she drinks me under the table though ;-)
You'll be under the table first Tony.....with your reputation for nicking drinks!... ;-)
