Doubtful - they will probably see the President as pronouncing on things he really knows little about, and which don't affect him or his country.
I hope not.Would the Americans want Ottawa dictating a different constitution to which the US hold dear? They are at each other's throats as it is apparently re water rights and diverting Lakes.
In words that Obahma may understand."Butt Out "and worry about your own position
No.
his only interest is strategic benefits to the USA....
Much as I admire Obama, I think he has his own agenda and needs to look after the USA and their problems before advising the UK what to do.
/// Mr Obama said the UK was America's "best partner" because of its willingness to project power beyond its "immediate self-interests to make this a more orderly, safer world". ///

'Best partner' indeed, Obama will suck up to anyone who the US can use to carry out their own foreign policy for them.

Well as a keen EUphobe, I do take on board what the president says but he’s missing the point, leaving or staying is the simplistic dichotomy but in realty I think most who say they want to leave, including me, mean they don’t want what the EU has become. I think there is room for agreements, treaties and general cooperation, like we signed up for in 1974 what we don’t want is the creeping federalisation, the failed “currency” and the silly rules about everything. We don’t like being the member of a club where we are one of only two that pay subs. We don’t want to be ruled by faceless unelected bureaucrats.
Every country is their strongest ally.

Ah yes, he is a well known Anglophile. Doubtless he has our best interests at heart.

Whether they agree or disagree, suggesting thew the US president knows little about international relations seems a mite misguided :-)

I will never doubt his sincerity again although I note a few countries he failed to mention. :-)
I must be going mad - I find myself once again agreeing with what is one of TTT's most sensible posts I've ever read.

Only the Netherlands and Australia, surely if you listen to that. France is the oldest (which is correct)
The rest are good at boxing :-)
Canary, stop it I'm welling up here!
I thought I heard him say Italy was a most strongest ally. That made me chuckle.
He should ask Mrs Merkel. They have a different version in Germany.
Let's face it, we only get invited to the party because we supply the beer.
Nah, I couldn't care less what Obama thinks.
He is looking after the interests of his own country. He is head of a UK friendly country and believes he might has influence over the EU by having influence with us.

He seems mistaken in that he thinks we have any reasonable influence in the EU when the reality is they dictate more to us than we get to influence them.

He needs to be reminded that we are not the 51st State of The US of A
(yet).
Of course he would say that. The US see us as the back door into Europe.

But we dont see him coming to the table with an open wallet do we?
Depends on what weight the British public give to that well worn adage 'special relationship'.

I doubt Obama's comments would be remembered much nearer the time....
