Now that Ed Miliband is the new Labour Leader, and he says he is committed to the country and his party, shouldn't he now make a commitment to his partner, and marry her?

He also said he didn't have time to register the birth of his son, and the space on the birth certificate where the fathers name should be, remains blank.

I wonder if he will correct these things, now that his partner is expecting again, but wait a minute, now that he is Labour's Leader, isn't he going to be even more busy?

Nox......maybe or maybe not. If he wants to be PM that badly he may have to choice between his girlfriend and his objective.
I think in this day and age people want a government that is not two faced and is accepting of the people as they really live, thus I don't think anyone except the usual 'disgusted of Bournemouth' rabble will give a rat's rear end about whether he's married or not- don't forget most of the people who ripped us off over the expenses scandal were 'respectable' on the surface- at least we know he can't employ his wife as his secretary:)
Nox...maybe ....maybe.
And what has this got to do with

a) his ability or lack of to do his job
b) anyone but him and his partner?
chuck..........at the top of Politcs, those points may well be not enough.
Or....

It's just something else for the daily mail to try and get the population up in arms about.
chuck cmon.....naive you are not.

For all top jobs in Medicine, Law, Teaching, Engineering, IT, Banking, Company directors, there may well be 20 or 30 equally qualified applicants who have equal qualifications, equally impressive CV´s but only one can be appointed i.e someone must be eliminated on a small " inadequacy" and not being married to the woman who has borne your children may ....may just be that factor.

I am no saying that it is right, just saying that it may be a deciding factor.
Errr... sqad, in case you missed the news..... he has already been chosen.
He'll probably turn out to be a closet gay, plenty of MPs these days seem to be

Wonder if he too has a young handsome 'special advisor' who he shares twin hotel rooms with?
chuck.....I noticed that.....as the Leader .....not PM.
There is an maybe a difference.
sqad, i get your point, but in most jobs you can't be discriminated against because of your marital status (or anything much else, come to that)
boxtops....can.t you? I have been on many selection committees and there is more than one way "to skin a cat"
Joe...

And?
hes ed, hes red , hes a sinner, and quad has him skining cats ?oh and he may be gay !
Let's not forget to throw his Jewish ancestry into the melting pot.
He doesn't come across as being very forceful or leader like to me, in fact I thought in his speech he sounded like a wimpish schoolboy. Definately not PM material. He has also got his partner up the spout again, this time I think that they should marry. They already have one barstool with a blank on his birth certificate, what sort of an example is he setting to our little chavs out there.
Sqad - the application forms I see don't have anything on them these days about marital status, sexual orientation, age, children, ....etc. and we can't ask about those things at interview.
joeluke

Again with the gay thing???

Enough already.
gay ?

Well - he seems very happy , to me .
Does it matter?, he`ll never be Prime Minister
