I mean was it common knowledge that he had those watches?
He was a "brand ambassador" for the watch brand.
£400,000 for a watch - that's obscene.
not as obscene as taking them at knifepoint
Very true
Time is precious, apparently.
// £400,000 for a watch - that's obscene. //

Nevertheless, anything less than 10 years imprisonment handed down to the perps will be an injustice.
Damn savages .......etc
Below one of the photos, it states, 'Peta Cavendish (pictured on another occasion with Mark Cavendish) said the suspects took her husband's £400,000 watch that he "raced in".'

Imagine if he fell off his bicycle in a race, destroying the watch?
Some might say he was obviously insured or not?
Mind you did he really wear it in a race? Or did he wear it just for a photo shot?
for £400,000 I would want a watch that would outlast me, the bike, the road and the planet.
A lot of youngsters these days recognise designers this and that and will try to steal them from you.
Personally, I wouldn't know a designer watch from one from a market stall and would worry if any of my children went out for the night wearing expensive jewellery.
I wouldnt be surprised if these villains look at all sports stars then case out the joint of anyone they see with anything interesting. Then turn their house over.

Until we get shot of liberal judges and start jailing villains in proper hard jails with long sentences this wont change.
Watches of that value are ridiculous liabilities unless you're Jeff Bezos or the like where money is meaningless.

Invest it in property or something useful, or at least stick them in a bank safety deposit.
///I wouldn't know a designer watch from one from a market stall ///

Me neither.
I don’t think that’s the point, Canary.
Mark Cavendish has worked hard to get into the good financial position he's in,so why shouldn't he buy expensive watches if he chooses, that's the trouble nowadays lazy people not willing to work but wanting the rewards work brings,if they get 20years each it would not be long enough for me.
