Anyone watching? Quite feisty from the off. Sunak has gone straight for the jugular, Truss actually looking competent for once.
How on earth did these two ever get on at government meetings?
Safe to say that the loser will not be getting a job in the cabinet.

In Gromits world.

Tory members watching the debate.
"Oh, Sunak looks like a Muslim, can't vote for him, perhaps if I adjust the picture".
"Ah, that's better, he no longer looks like a Muslim, now I can vote for him".
It was a jokey post.
No one adjusted their set. I doubt Truss ever had a paper round.

Could be mistaken but my take is that Gromit already knows he’s a Hindu, he’s pointing out that with his colour the ‘party faithful’ will automatically brand him a Muslim, as they invariably would.

Ah, cross posted.

//during this whole process I don't think I've heard a single Tory even mention race religion etc. //

Lol, more lies.
It seems that some on this site are determined to slander Tory party members, on the basis of no evidence, as racists. How come then that Kemi Badenoch was the favourite amongst the Tory members?
09:23. show me the evidence then?
fatti: "Could be mistaken but my take is that Gromit already knows he’s a Hindu, he’s pointing out that with his colour the ‘party faithful’ will automatically brand him a Muslim, as they invariably would. " - on what do you base that assumption?
"during this whole process I don't think I've heard a single Tory even mention race religion etc... The party will elect the leader it thinks is best and race will not be relevant. We leave this kind of ism to Labour."

In a 2019 survey of a sample of 864 adult Tory members,

'Just 8% of members agreed that “I would be proud of Britain if we were to elect a Muslim as our Prime Minister”, while 43% agreed that “I would prefer to not have the country led by a Muslim”'

Is it likely that Tory members' opinions have changed so radically over the past three year?

09:54, yes but you said the "party faithful" would brand him a muslim. What is your evidence that the "party faithful" think Sunak is a Muslim rather than a Hindu?
I suspect that most people haven't got a clue what the difference is.

His colour, in conjunction with the links provided.

Still smarting and deflecting from my post at 01.23 I see?
Perpetually making yourself look silly and a liar, keep going me old china. PMSL.
//I suspect that most people haven't got a clue what the difference is.//

I suspect you're right, bhg. I wouldn't want a Muslim Prime Minister - but that's because I DO know what the difference is.

What if the Muslim was white? Same stance?
fatti; "His colour, in conjunction with the links provided. " - the links just highlight alleged Islamophobic issues. What is your evidence that his colour would induce the "party faithful" to believe he is a Muslim?
//What if the Muslim was white? Same stance? //

Yes indeed.

Lol, give it up, Combat18-lite.
^^^^^^ Looks like the nasty left again.
I’m going to stick my neck out and say that although I don’t approve of unelected party members rather than MPs choosing the next PM, I suspect most will not be basing their choice on the religion of the candidates.
It’s not N Ireland.
Maybe that’s naive
