In view of the terrorist attacks inflicted upon the British people in the name of Islam, have we every right to show fear, hated and prejudice against the Islamic religion?
Not surprised though? Tbh, unless and until anyone can answer my two questions, I will continue to believe it is down to prejudice a nd presumption.
I may well be proven wrong by the statistics- fair enough. But there is nothing to say otherwise.
pixie, I think naomi has covered most of what I was going to say, however I would add that the fact that the evidence isn't there proves my point. Why aren't all these peace loving Islams out demonstrating against Muslim terrorism? Why aren't they out with placards saying not in my name? They don't condemn it and by not condemning it, in my view, they condone it.
Pixie when I asked you much earlier in the thread what your Muslim colleagues said about the Manchester bombings you replied you had no idea because its not something that was discussed -why not? Did they not condemn it? Were you too frightened to mention it? Isn't it normal for work colleagues to discuss such abominations?
APG. We're never going to see eye-to-eye, that's true. I don't believe that gives you any power to say what thread I comment on, or don't comment on. So.................
It shouldn't really be difficult, in theory, naomi. There must be a number of convicted Muslim terrorists and also an estimated number of muslims in the UK. Google seems convinced I just want to read about terrorist attacks, no matter how I word it. Which suggests that more people are searching for that, than actually the truth...
Apg, everyone I know, Muslim or otherwise condemned it. I didn't question anyone further about whether they were really secretly pleased... as it makes no difference anyway. Action speaks louder than words.
We speak to each other yes, but I didn't interrogate them about whether they were lying. Translate that however you prefer.
Until someone posts some genuine stats as facts, I will still remain unconvinced.
Apg, I have dragged through the thread for you... and my answer was
//I have never found a need to specifically ask them about terrorism, no.//
So no contradiction. They said what they chose to.
I know, and I am not doubting that naomi knows about religion. But the thread is about psychology. Are you able to answer my questions about statistics, or are you not bothered and going with prejudices instead?
pixie, I don't think the worldwide figures you seek are available - as I said in my opinion an impossible task - but this relates solely to this country.
Definitely not. Attacks, whether in the name of Islam or on the football terraces are carried out by the few. The majority take no part in it. Prejudice is all around us in our everyday life. We must just rise above it.
UK is fine, I didn't mean worldwide. Again, I am not worried about how many people are "thought to be".
What percentage of muslims in the UK, are "convicted" terrorists?
What percentage of the terrorists are male?
Just to get the genuine causes...
I am sure the answers must be available. Convictions are fairly definite. My Google is very shy about telling me, but hopefully someone will have the answers.
