Even Transport for London, thinking that they were acting in a true PC fashion, by including a small Muslim character in their £2million campaign for schools and nurseries, were later forced to withdraw the cartoon.

/// This is in the true tradition of getting the "Muslim issue" into the DM, in any form possible. ///

Give your Mail bashing a rest Mikey, this story has been covered by most other news outlets.
Older English women used to wear head scarfs.

curlers up ere luv
wivva fag dribbling from the mouth - which of course was in full flow all the time in waking hours

hey in the sixties you could get a ticket if you wore curlers in the street in Bermuda ( they said)
Many primary schools have the Hijab listed as an allowable part of the uniform, that implies it's an option only not compulsory.

They may have been better doing a survey on how many primary age girls actually wear a scarf to school - although I'd rather they didn't bother.

// by including a small Muslim character//

time to wheel out again the hollywood cartoon character of a little hindu Indian Prince of the sixties whose name was Hajji
( erm which you give someone who has made a pilgrimage in islam and not hinduism)

sorry a bit clunky that time
have we had
no because it sexualises young muslim girls ?

anyway interesting argument which is surfacing and causing chaos
Completely agree with Vulcan.

Not sure how wearing a hijab can "sexualise a child ?"

Ask yourself why children start wearing one and at what age (normally) then you might understand.
It makes no difference to the child, Talbot. If the problem is when adults see a child that way- maybe compulsory classes to educate the parents. Not taking it out on little girls.
Yes.

Wearing one is not moving to integration and unity which the country needs.
Have I read the article correctly? I may be missing something it appears.

When my children were at School the list of items allowed was huge, they most certainly did not get or wear everything on the list - the cost alone would have been prohibitive.

So, is the question - should the Hijab be on the list?
I don't like uniforms anyway and wouldn't have a list, so I can’t really help there.
No....head covering stops the spread of lice!

Yeah that'll work.
We're a tad worried about what goes on in your head Mr Insert name.
We will require you to attend some What The Funicular is wrong with you classes.

What could possibly go wrong?
" Older English women used to wear head scarfs".
In school?
FGM doesn't affect you either, Bernie.
It's certainly a better start than telling them they have a point and we should remove all temptation!
what does FGM have to do with wearing a hijab?
I think because you were saying it doesn't affect your life, bernie, so it doesn't matter.
