We have no idea why the pilot insisted he was left behind.

A British Airways pilot may have come to the same decision.

Do you think the pilot was a 'sympathiser'?
Best to check what might be the outcome first as all Pilots have the right to refuse.
//The European Aviation Safety Agency has insisted that pilots are entitled not to take off with someone on board if there have concerns over safety.//

In the circumstances it's unlikely that the man posed a threat to the safety of the aircraft, so I can only conclude the pilot was a sympathiser.
Let's get a hold of one of those pilots who can ferry dozens of inebriated lads and lasses to and fro, seven days a week without flinching and have the decisions of our courts upheld.
The Express has printed a story with too many unanswered questions.

Was the failed Asylum Seeker a Muslim.?
Was the pilot of the Turkish Plane a Muslim.?
Why had Samim Bigzad failed to get asylum in the UK.?

The above questions are a few which I think need to be answered. Perhaps other ABers can think of additional questions, or answer those which I have submitted.

Hans.
even the info on the petition requesting 90 days grace for Samim Bigzad to appeal his deportation doesn't make it clear.
All it says is that he accompanied his disabled dad to mosque (Dad is a UK citizen)
No, I'm not going to sign the petition, am just posting the link if anyone wants to read it.

"In the circumstances, it's unlikely that the man posed a threat to the aircraft."

It would be difficult assessing that, without knowing more details.

/// After receiving phone calls telling him he would be beheaded by militants who knew where he lived and worked, he risked his life to reach the UK via Turkey, Greece and France, almost suffocating in a lorry from Calais. ///

He is an illegal immigrant and should be sent back from whence he came.

Or he should have stayed in Turkey, perhaps he could have got a job with Turkish Airlines?
sp, //It would be difficult assessing that, without knowing more details. //

I don't think so. A man being deported would be under escort so could pose no threat to the security of the airline.
well we should certainly award the contract to an airline that flys who they are told to. I hope this idiots employer holds him responsible for the loss of the government contract.
under the EU rules he should apply in Greece so drop him off there if he wants.

Here's one that strangely enough has not had any petitions raised by Ms Chapman, who is chair of the Kent Anti-Racism Network, demanding that he stays.

It's more likely that the Captain thought the deportee might 'kick off' and that's why he refused to carry him.
AOG, No petition for Shane Ridge because the Home Office is working with him to go through the process of being able to remain.

If that were to fail , then more cries for action may ensue.
well it says he was booked to fly on the 26th so no point signing it now
I hope we can get him deported quickly. but looking at your title I'm not sure what you mean by a Muslim airline.

No way would I sign the Petition @ 1600 as the guy is a failed Afghan Asylum Seeker and in my opinion the Pilot while acting within his remit should be banned from the UK as well, those who disagree will be the usual Rabid, Refugee Hugging Left Wingers.
^ Couldn't agree more.
The religious adherences of the airline owners and staff, and the pilot are irrelevant here.

You appear to be jumping to the conclusion that the pilot is a Muslim and that the airline is 'Muslim' as well, with no evidence for either.

It does fit your preferred conclusion, that there is sympathy with the passenger because he is a Muslim, but there is absolutely nothing in your link that confirms the reasons for the pilot's actions.

They are hooves running up behind you, but this time, it's a zebra.

Better luck next time.
Baldric - // No way would I sign the Petition @ 1600 as the guy is a failed Afghan Asylum Seeker ... //

That's the only part of your post that is reasonable, and defensible.

// ... and in my opinion the Pilot while acting within his remit should be banned from the UK as well, those who disagree will be the usual Rabid, Refugee Hugging Left Wingers. //

I disagree because the pilot may well be a UK citizen, and entitled to the same protections under law as you or I. You cannot go around 'banning people from the UK' based on no evidence that this pilot has done anything wrong whatsoever, legally or morally.

You are in AOG's camp here - an erroneous conclusion based on previously advised prejudice - what a good job neither of you are within a country mile of any legal decision making in this country.
