It's just bit of fun, not contraverisal, scary or a loaded question.
We don't do 'fun' in News.
The article says Hull is the worst place in the North, not the UK.
Blackpool. I had the misfortune to have to attend a 4 day conference there, in 1995 and it was the pits. The Trams were lovely, but the rest was bloody awful....wall to wall tat and drunks.
Isn't Jaywick supposed to be the worst - as it is the most deprived?
Anywhere that isn't London. Easily the best city in the world by a country mile.
I'd vote for Grays as possibly the worst place in the country:

I've had the misfortune to work there and it's really depressing:

I can't see why Yorkshire (as a whole) should be mentioned above. It's got some stunningly beautiful areas (particularly in North Yorkshire) but even the less attractive places (such as Sheffield) are worth visiting simply because of the warmth of the welcome you'd get.

I can partly understand why Hastings get a mention but I have to assume that Sp1814 isn't familiar with the Old Town area, at the eastern edge of the town; it's worth visiting.

>>> Anywhere that isn't London. Easily the best city in the world by a country mile

I have to assume that Deskdiary hasn't been to Paris, Madrid or even Edinburgh!
Hands off Notlob! Hasn't every place got good and bad, there are some very nice, and relatively expensive, parts of Hull. When this kind of topic comes up I always hear in my head Tony Hancock in the Blood Donor, We're not all Rob Roys.
>>> Isn't Jaywick supposed to be the worst - as it is the most deprived?

Jaywick is definitely 'a bit of a dump', and there are a few areas which I feel uncomfortable visiting, but it's got a certain 'shabby charm' to it, a lovely beach and a good community spirit. I liked it as a kid (when my grandparents lived there) and I still enjoy visiting it now.
Have been to Paris, Madrid, Edinburgh (Edinburgh lots of times to see England routinely best Scotland) Berlin, Budapest, Bogata, Santiago, Washington, Warsaw, Rome, Athens, Moscow to name a few, which is why I feel I am able to make an informed comment.
I agree with you DD. And I've been to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Barcelona, Budapest, Krakow, Amsterdam, New York, San Fran, San Diego, Las Vegas, Aarhus, Amiens, York, and even Hull!
My sister went to Hull University (long after Philip Larkin had died) and I thought Hull was ok.
Unless you have spent some time or lived there how can you express an opinion
Never been to Hull
Many years ago lived in Bradford and loved it
Also lived in Telford and hated it but loved the people I met there
Not a fan of big cities and would not like to live in one s
again
Not sure I have a worst, but I love Yorkshire.
Well OH had his hubcaps nicked in Northend, Portsmouth so he probably thinks it's there.
I lived in Manchester for two and a half years and hated it!!
Hull may well be the armpit but London is and always has been the
Arxehole....
^^^says somebody that doesn't know it.
