This is now being treated as a terrorist attack. All attacks are horrific, but those aimed at kids are the most horrific.

It was a nail bomb, and whoever did this knew it couldn't be smuggled into the venue - at all major concerts I've been to over the past five year, there's a bag check in the lobby before you get into the arena itself).

Therefore, it would have been left in the lobby to inflict injury and kill as many concert-goers as possible.

I find it impossible to summarise how much hatred I feel for who did this.
(*whoever).
from v_e, //each "possible" needs nine policemen to monitor him effectively. The guys who decapitated the French priest were on that list and were on parole.//

I read recently that there are 12,000 people on the UK’s terrorism suspect list, an impossible number to monitor, but was castigated when I suggested they shouldn’t be allowed to walk freely. I wish whoever has done this had not been at large.
Lyn M did you have to do this? Turn something already awful into some sort of racist rant- this was committed by a terrorist lunatic and the Taxi firms last night ( predominantly Muslim / Pakistani) worked free all night to get people out of the city Centre to safety. No right minded person of any religion or race feels anything but revulsion for what's happened. Social media is just breaking my heart at the moment with the missing pics and pleas.
Police are quite rightly treating it as a terror attack. It really is difficult to see what else it could possibly be...

I really hope the abject scum who did this get brought to justice.
I'm devestasted.

this is my home town, i've worked there for many years, and had many a night out. i know the city centre like the back of my hand and its left me in bits that something like this has happened to something of 'mine'.

my thought are with the family of those who have died and are injured.

Manchester will prevail- we're a tough lot up here, terror will not win in this city.
//No right minded person of any religion //

Unfortunately one particular religion seems to struggle on this one. Whilst it is not confirmed yet it would appear 'Muslims' have been celebrating and were doing so up to 4 hours before the attack.

This is a particularly cowardly and despicable attack. Hopefully, as the IRA found out, killing innocent kids like this will be the turning point and sufficient Muslims will now start fighting back against those in their religion that wish to destroy.

If not I see vigilante groups starting up very soon as the Police and Government seem powerless, tied up in a mix pf right-on liberalism and the EU.
Which report said there were celebrations four hours before the explosion?

I agree - wont stop me getting on the trams ( when they go back to running ) and going down for a bit of jigga-jig ....

[Newton Heath man says he cant remember being there]

and No YMF/3T I dont think the IRA DID learn eventually that blowing up small children was a false trail to Oirish Freedom
Hubby works just outside Manchester PP, but drives through it to get there. He's taken the motorway straight to work this morning. even this morning, the City's struggling to get back to normal.

i love my fellow Mancies x

that is a bit long for: "I believe people will start lynching (brownish) suspects after an attack"

so do I

the pupils of a few police dilated when I said that to them -
it hadnt crossed their mind apparently

BUT - the whole point of suicide bombers is that you blow yourself up - it isnt exactly a synchronised sport - so the favoured double-tap of Irish Bombs WON'T be a feature - [put one bombs down and another one a little away and a little later for where people congregate]
but heads without bodies will be a feature

[Tavistock Sq - head reported in Ta Sq gdns on the media and the Israeli cultural sttache rang up the police ( secret police probably) and said - you have a big problem ...]
I really don't know what to say. As some of you may know, I was born and bred in Manchester and still live there. This morning I am incredibly sad that this has happened and my heart goes out to all the families of the people who died and were injured. My granddaughter often goes to these concerts in Manchester with my daughter, and I am so grateful they were not at this one, but now I will worry like mad when they go to any concert in the future.
-- answer removed --
Of course it's hard not to worry about things like this, but anything could happen at any time anywhere. We shouldn't live in fear. I hope this doesn't stop people going out and enjoying themselves at concerts or anywhere else.
Krom, //I really hope the abject scum who did this get brought to justice. //

He'll never be brought to justice. This was a suicide bombing.
04.33, I ask a moderator or ED remove this post from Lynn m ?
anneasquith, are you asking if you should? My answer would be no.
What is the aim of these depraved "people"? Go on ask yourself.....if they got their own way would that be the end of it? Of course not it, would carry on. I think we all secretly know the answer, they must go....one way or the other.
