It is said that it is safer for the women of Iraq, than it is for the women of Stockholm.

The reactions to this story are interesting. There have been many similar reports, of course. "Stockholm - rape capital of Europe" was the particularly lurid headline of one. The "hard" fact is the 50% rise in reported rape in the last ten years. The speculative explanation for this rise ("speculative" because the ethnicity and country of origin of alleged...

Sorry to hear that, Allen. It must be very uncomfortable for you.
If it were 2 homicides a year but has leapt since Sweden has offered their hospitality to immigrants then it is a significant increase.
Why are people here so blinkered?
Just what damn source will you ever believe is true? Do you believe that decent Swedes who are respected journalists, school teachers, policemen,Family people are all lying for God's sake. I suppose some would wan't the press stifled if it proves that their much wanted experiment has crashed in flames.
Thats how Facists stifle the truth by news blackouts and denial. Those who deny this is happening in Sweden should be ashamed. The Swedes are not like the Burmese. They can still communicate via e-mail or cell net to friends or family in the outside world even if the press are given fake news.

How come you choose to believe some news outlets and journalists but not others?
There's a problem in Sweden without a shadow of a doubt. It may only be with a minority of the immigrants but that minority should feel the full force of the law right up to being deported.

I'm not sure of the reasons why some people refuse to accept this obvious fact.
Complete tosh, as jno has pointed out. Sweden is many times safer for everybody, than a war region like Iraq.

But this is the Express, after all, so we shouldn't expect very much should we ?
On international women's day tho it is nice to see the sufden heartfelt concern for the ladies of Stockholm and Baghdad.
So ladies of AB: given the choice between a week in Stockholm and a week in Baghdad, which will it be?
Mikey
I take it you have been to Iraq and Stockholm recently so can write from a position of knowledge. Perhapsnyou have met the award winning Swedish journalist in either of these places somyou can tell us it is tosh
dinepal...lets quote the OP shall we ?

"It is said that it is safer for the women of Iraq, than it is for the women of Stockholm"

So life in a peaceful Scandinavian country is safer than a war-torn state like Iraq ?
Ich - I'd opt for Stockholm...
No Mikey
I read the opposite. The Swedish female reporter ( not the express) has stated that women are safer in Iraq at the moment than on the streets of Swedish towns.
Stokholm
Bit rash that ummmm surely?
;-)
Noooo Islay don't do it!! We all love you :-)
''Complete tosh''

Says mikey from his sofa in Swansea a few minutes ago.

''Extremely heavy fighting in the Government quarter in Mosul. A cat running with human flesh in her mouth.''

Says Magda Gad‏ from a war-zone this morning
Talbot...."Extremely heavy fighting in the Government quarter in Mosul. A cat running with human flesh in her mouth"

Is Mosul a suburb of Stockholm ?
Lol ick you know we have to stick together us types!!
Is Mosul a suburb of Stockholm ?

Not yet no (c'mon the daft question deserved it)
ikey, //as jno has pointed out. Sweden is many times safer for everybody, than a war region like Iraq.

jno is not addressing the same issue. She and the reporter are talking about two different things. Perhaps you should try reading the original link again.
