It'll surely be a "scandal" only if the e-mails give rise to charges. At the moment, as far as I know, even the director of the FBI has no idea whether they are of any significance. If it transpires that they are not, I hope Clinton has Trump charged with slander for the speech he immediately made upon hearing of their existence.

Funny you should say that. If there's no substance to any of this I wondered why she isn't suing him.

The phrase "if it transpires" is, by definition, a reference to the future. Clearly, therefore, the lady's legal action can hardly be expected to begin before there is actual evidence one way or t'other.

Of course, Mrs Clinton could start an action now, but what would be the point? All Trump would have to say, whilst awaiting legal developments, is "Wait and see."
In other words, there is no way in which her action could proceed in any significant manner at present. Indeed, it would serve only to make the election process more of a farce than it has already become, thanks to her oafish competitor.
'Festina lente' is rarely bad advice but clearly not advice that appeals to you!

The point would be to put her money where her mouth is, so to speak. Trump has called her, among other things, dishonest, a crook and a liar. If she isn’t all of those things then instead of allowing rumours to continue to circulate, and hence mistrust to fester, why doesn’t she take the opportunity to stop it all in its tracks, thereby increasing her support by demonstrating to the American people that she’s honest enough to defend her unblemished integrity through the courts? I would have thought that, in these circumstances, this continuous slander coming from him is a gift to her ….. but apparently not.

This isn't new. If she has nothing to hide, from her point of view there's every point - and she should have done it.
