Many have said that they didn't, but what was the alternative?

On a radio phone-in this morning, one person was foolish enough to suggest that the parents of the child staged this, so that they could obtain video footage to later sell to the media and put on youtube.

A mail journalist has taken up yards of newsprint in today's edition anthropmorhising this situation, and the gorilla's behaviour, centering in the fact that for a new seconds the gorilla held the child's hand. This sort of handwringing sob-fest goes against the facts and the potential of the situation - a large and potentially lethal primate, part of a...

It seems that the only innocent party here was the gorilla...funny old world. Im sure all concerned will 'learn lessons' from the incident..until the next time.
I actually thought the removed post deserved some consideration, outrageous agreed but an interesting take on things at 4 in the morning. Furthermore why thank people for removing it when it's pasted in the next but one post anyway. Ridiculous.
Prudie, it often happens. Stupid.

That's why @ 'whoever' should be used instead of C&P.

Try telling that to some animals, don't you think they have also misused and abused their advantage shockingly?

Like this case,

Prudie...."I actually thought the removed post deserved some consideration"

Really ?

The post suggested that the boy should have been shot and killed instead of the gorilla. What part of that deserved our consideration ?

it was a stupid post to make, which a Mod/Ed agreed with.

Its not often that AOG and I agree, but this is clearly one of them
Considering it was removed it's getting lots of attention and repetition - best ignored in my view.
Mamy....yes, I think you are right....along with the people that refuse to condemn the poster.
Mikey, what is the point of getting a post that you found offensive removed, thanking the Editor publicly for removing it, and then repeating what it said?

Is it just me that finds that bizarre?
Naomi, in this case AOG referred to the whole post afterwards. A flaw/weakness in the AB system.
ag, I know. Look at the second and third posts on this page. Thing is, Mikey reported it and he's repeated it too!
Lor' mikey, if you ignore the first phrase that was so shocking (although pretty obviously TIC) it's hard to argue against the gorilla only had the cage, the child the whole world.
I think Mikey wanted everyone to know who had done the reporting.
Naomi, I see your point.
> The post suggested that the boy should have been shot and killed instead of the gorilla. What part of that deserved our consideration ?

Well, it was an alternative, and all alternatives should be considered. There are circumstances in which it might have been an acceptable alternative ...

Those arguing that the gorilla should not have been shot would, had the gorilla started dismembering, crushing or drowning the living boy, have had a difficult choice:

1) Shoot the gorilla anyway
2) Shoot the boy
3) Leave the boy to die a slow, painful death

I think shooting the gorilla before it may have reached that stage was, regrettably, the correct action.
Shooting the boy was never an alternative.
It's an alternative if you don't want to shoot the gorilla, which is I believe the point ... you do have to shoot it.
I agree, but there are those that think that shooting the boy was the lesser of two evils, so the alternative doesn't belong in the sane world.
No, Mikey, one person said it...
