Many have said that they didn't, but what was the alternative?

On a radio phone-in this morning, one person was foolish enough to suggest that the parents of the child staged this, so that they could obtain video footage to later sell to the media and put on youtube.

A mail journalist has taken up yards of newsprint in today's edition anthropmorhising this situation, and the gorilla's behaviour, centering in the fact that for a new seconds the gorilla held the child's hand. This sort of handwringing sob-fest goes against the facts and the potential of the situation - a large and potentially lethal primate, part of a...

Take whatever action is needed to keep them safe in the situation, Ummmm......x
gness, would you please answer my question at 12.11?
I shall give it the same detailed consideration and reply as you did to a question I asked you, Naomi.
What question?
Ellipsis, thanks for that - yes a clear and calm interview that sums up a very sad situation.
Seems gness is a rather stuck on that one. No surprise.
The decision to kill the gorilla would not have been taken lightly.

The child's safety had to come first but no doubt there are plenty of folk that would say we are all God's creatures and all have the same right to life. It's not that simple though is it?
No, it isn't as simple as that, ag.
Child's life in danger being dragged by gorilla after his fall into shallow moat. Killing the gorilla to save the child was justified.

Thanks you Ed !
Why are you thanking the Ed?
If I told you why Ummm, this post might be removed, in the same way that the other post was removed.
It was the correct decision. Anybody who feels it wasn't, quite simply, is wrong. And those who do feel it was wrong would be of a very different opinion if it was their child.
I don't know what other thread you're talking about, Mikey, or why you felt the need to say anything in the first place when most won't understand.
A post on this thread was removed around dawn time, a moderator was on too, they may have pulled it.
An absolute tragedy. But I do not know what else the zoo staff could have done. Harambe was a 30 stone beautiful wild animal. Whilst we can sit behind our keyboards and pontificate, we cannot get away from the fact that no one knows what might have happened. He was a wild animal, and no one, but no one can say how he might have reacted (since I doubt very much that he has ever had a four year old he does not recognise fall into his territory).

Whether the zoo security was to blame, or whether the parents were to blame are all questions for another day to attempt to ensure it does not happen again. I have no doubt it was not a decision taken lightly by the zoo who get to know the animals and care for them.

Necessary but unnecessary is the best way I can describe it.
Ummm...I reported a particularly unpleasant post, that occurred between
04:38 and 07:42 today, and Ed removed it.

I always thanks Ed when he has removed a post after I have reported it.
Thanks Mamy....just seen your post of 13:37 !
Oh...the post about shooting a child? At at guess I'd think a mod removed it.
That is correct Ummm. An incredibly stupid and offensive post.
