Yet another completely avoidable death from gun ownership in America.

Liitle kids in the back of the car but not in child seats !

America, the Land of the Free...free to kill innocent people.

I disagree andy, comic exaggeration often induces though where none existed previously.

TTT is correct here....the gun lobby will point out the problem lies in the ease at which the kids got hold of the gun, not the gun ownership problem in the first place. One of their favourite sayings is

"guns don't kill people....people kill people "

Fair enough - if you have the courage of your convictions you can stand a little honest criticism from people who don't share your viewpoint - without being offensive to them in return - can't you.
The left use this technique all the time surprised you don't recognize it Andy. I say "lets' send them back to the first safe country", Left wing reply "why bother let's just machine gun them on the beach and feed them to the crabs" - see?

And how stupid a saying is that?

More accurately, but entirely against their ethos is - Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people.

Can't remember any cases of it happening. Our ownership laws are not as lax as in the States; however, as in the UK, if I really wanted to buy a pistol/revolver I could probably find a seller lurking around somewhere.
Why bother one's self on what goes off in America, there are plenty of other such things happening all over the world, perhaps you should be more concerned on what some children get up to in the Middle East for example?

Frankly - no.

But if it's a 'left wing' method of communication, then maybe that's why you use it so poorly - lack of practice.

Maybe better to leave it to the 'lefties', or come back after some experience of using it elsewhere, maybe on people who actually care.
Is race being brought into the debate?

Surely not!!!

Come on guys...this isn't a left or right issue !

Calm down dears...its only a debate !

Thanks Stuey.....Canadian gun problems rarely seem to make the news.

I guess you guys could easily take a day trip down south, buy some guns and then head back up north !
no by me, merely an analogy. I can't believe I'm getting berated here for agreeing with common sense!
mikey - //Come on guys...this isn't a left or right issue ! //

I think that, on the basis that the NRA is about six feet to the right of Attila The Hun, I think a left or right issue is exactly what it is!
Mikey, I would just have to trawl through a certain area in Toronto in order to make my deal.
Is this a British thing? What I mean is that in most discussions on here, people start to wave around these left and right labels.

Stuey....stay out of Toronto...ask Mrs Stuey to go instead, and take the trash bins out while she is at it !

I have never been to Toronto but I have seen it on the horizon, when I have been travelling from Niagara to Detroit through Ontario. It says in Wiki that its the most heavily populated city in Canada ! I thought that might be Vancouver.
Question Author
Stuey....no...its more of AB thing !
stuey - //Is this a British thing? What I mean is that in most discussions on here, people start to wave around these left and right labels. //

As I have pointed out, I think a variance in political ideology does fuel the gun debate.

People of a right-wing persuasion see gun ownership as self-sufficiency and the ability for a man to defend his homestead and his kinfolk. People of a left-wing persuasion see gun ownership as ending badly in almost all circumstances.

So in this post, I think the political slant is a valid one - not necessarily for all posts, but here I think it is pertinent background to some of the views being expressed.
I watched a hidden camera programme where people were going into a gun shot to purchase a gun. The shop owner described the gun and also explained the fatal shootings the gun had been involved in. That seemed to put people off.
//The purpose of a gun is to shoot people - that is what it is designed to do, and death is the intended end result.//

Really.
