Yet another completely avoidable death from gun ownership in America.

Liitle kids in the back of the car but not in child seats !

America, the Land of the Free...free to kill innocent people.

Chilling isn't it.

Yes Mamy...chilling and entire avoidable. When will America learn ?
They won't learn.
when they give up this notion that it is the right of everyone to own a firearm
Which is very unlikely to happen.
As has been discussed many times when this kind of tragedy unfolds, America, for all its sophistication, retains its 'frontier' mentality with regard to people possessing guns.

Sadly, if you leave your gun, and your child, unsecured, one interfaces with the other, with tragic consequences.
To many Americans, the phrase "Gun Control" merely means the ability to hit your target.

There seems to be two main problems here.

One....Having the gun on the first place, although I accept that this is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Two....why were the kids able to get at the gun ? If they were placed in proper child seats, and/or the gun has been removed from the car before they got in, the accident couldn't have happened.

But this sort of accidental shooting by young children is not uncommon in America. Every now and then, a child gets his Mom's gun out of her handbag and shoots someone dead with it.

Why isn't simple logic and common sense not seem to occur to, admittedly some, Americans ?
This is not unusual, toddlers shoot around 50 people a year in America.
The NRA say that if she had a gun too she could have shot back. I reckon if everyone was issued with an Uzi 9mm, hand gun and RPG launcher at birth then this would not be a problem.
It's a way of life there, Mikey: Guns are readily available, and these accidents will continue to happen. I imagine that in some remote part of the World, people comment upon the fact that we pretty well all own cars and quite often accidentally kill each other with them.
TTT - you seem determined to see this thread as a platform for your sledgehammer witticisms.

Some threads are not appropriate places for silly sarcasm and tasteless jokes - this is one of them.

TTT..........while irony seems to work OK over here, in my experience it has much less of a track record over there !
stuey - //I imagine that in some remote part of the World, people comment upon the fact that we pretty well all own cars and quite often accidentally kill each other with them. //

That analogy has been used before, and it doesn't fly.

The purpose of a car is to transport people and accidental damage and death is an unfortunate and unintentional by-product.

The purpose of a gun is to shoot people - that is what it is designed to do, and death is the intended end result.
As I said, Andy: "It's a way of life...". I am not commenting upon the logic, moral, or legal aspects of it...Just the end results.

Stuey....the big difference between us and the Americans, in addition to their inability to speak English properly, and brew a decent beer, is that if this had happened even once over here, handguns would have been banned, if they had been available in the first place, but over there...........nothing ever happens.

Accidental shootings are like London buses...there will be another along in a minute.

But if the kids has been secured in the car properly..........
well if you get your knickers untwisted andy, I was basically slating the whole US approach to gun noncontrol. My statements were trying to critique the standard outpourings we get from every gun related atrocity from the US. We have the same discussion 300 times a year, I was merely trying another approach. Maybe I found some unexpected NRA supporters.
Question Author
Stuey...what is the situation like in Canada, with kids getting parents guns and killing people with them ?
TTT - if you want to slate the concept of gun ownership, you might want to consider that crass humour and sarcasm are not the ideal tools to use.

And I assure you my knickers are not twisted - that is your reaction, to poke fun at me because I called you out for your bad taste.
