It was not a pun.......it's an expression to describe anybody using an exaggeration to boost the sale of a book....usually a flattering puff piece but not in this case.....

I cannot legislate for people like AOG who are so keen to have a personal dig that they make themselves look foolish in their haste.
However - the phrase 'puff piece' is well known and often used in media circles, and for the record, anyone on here who knows me even vaguely knows that a homophobic jibe is something I would simply never undertake, it is contemptible.
The word 'puff' - as advised, means a breath of air, it is also slang for marijuana, and there are other meanings.
The word you are thinking of is 'pouf' which is pronounced the same, but has a defined meaning as a slang (and derogatory) label for a male homosexual.
Hopefully that has cleared up any misunderstanding.

I would not add' please excuse the pun', because I was not making a pun, and I expect people to adult enough to know that I don't make cheap jibes with infantile humour, so there is no need to qualify what I write.

Had a week look at Wikipedia and found out that CJ De Mooi resides in Wales with his civil partner Andrew Doran. CJ de Mooi is not de Mooi's birth name: he had it changed by deed poll at age 19 and is quoted as saying "I no longer wanted to be associated with my family". Apparently had a very abusive childhood. Don't know why I thought he was married (to a female), must have been dreaming.
