By that token Elipsis.... why should your vote somewhere in England carry any more weight than mine in Aberdeenshire???
It doesn;t and that's why there are almost ten time the number of seats in England as there are in Scotland and anywhere else.... Not Scotland's fault that the big two are utterly inept and can't design policies that are inclusive to Scottish views. The current demographics are a situation created by Westminster.. maybe you should remember that at times like this too..... Just sayin

It shouldn't. I was referring to statements like this in the article referred to by the OP:

Not quite. It's more the thought of a party that couldn't care less about 55 million of the 60 million people in the country being in a position to dictate government policy. That's pretty frightening.

I think standstill would be very interesting: it might even prove a 'pet' theory, of mine, which is that all governments are delusional, in the belief that they really control the economy. If we effectively stop them from twiddling the control knobs, for five years, while the economy goes and does its own thing, whether by the magic of MT's beloved "market forces" or whatever it is which truly influences world finance.
The prospect of a --functional opposition--, in place of a functionless, highly expensive, noise-making machine, makes £60k (or whatever it is) per seat seem almost like good value.
So, don't just vote: make the b***ers earn their keep, afterwards.

@ Ice Cream .... actually not much to get my head around.... if you'd read my posts properly you would note that I was one of the 55.4% who did vote NO.... Jeez how hard do you have to explain that to some people...
55.4% to 44.6% is barely overwhelming... it was a victory for the Union but a slim one... 5% swing would have seen independance and i'll give you a freebie, had Nicola Sturgeon been leading the campaign.... that would more likely have happened. I'll always support the SNP because they do the right things in Scotland for Scotland but I'd never vote FOR independance.... after a 30year carreer working for the crown and wearing it's uniform, I signed up to UK Plc many many years ago...
