Gromit's disdain for HM Forces is rather obvious, as is his palpable empathy for terrorists. That he's a Mod doesn't really reflect well on this site with that last post of his.

Indeed divebuddy.
Like I say, a sad reflection on this site that such views are held by a Moderator.

thanks auntie, given the circumstances we may say the outcome could have been much worse. ?

Yeah, they could have all survived, then Gromit wouldn't have been able to make snide comments about the law enforcement agencies/Special Forces.

Yep, I have the power to remove that Libel. But I won't.
You're a Mod. Wield whatever imaginary power you percieve you have.
The lack of a denial speaks volumes.
Go ahead, remove whatever you wish.
gromit, where did you read the SAS killed a hostage in the Iranian Embassy siege ?
Factually wrong, gromit, I quote from wiki,

"The raid lasted 17 minutes and involved 30–35 soldiers. The terrorists killed one hostage and seriously wounded two others during the raid while the SAS killed all but one of the terrorists. The rescued hostages and the remaining terrorist, who was still concealed amongst them, were taken into the embassy's back garden and restrained on the ground while they were identified. The last terrorist was identified by Sim Harris and led away by the SAS."

An apology would be in order - oh, and by the way, a libel would not hold up in court.
I do need to correct my statement. Stories of the death of the Iranian hostage by friendly fire appear to be untrue, put out by Iran propaganda. The inquest concluded rightly that the bullets were fired by the Iraqi terorists.
I also quote from the same item, "The hostage-takers, members of an Iranian Arab group campaigning for Arab national sovereignty in the southern region of Khūzestān Province, demanded the release of Arab prisoners from jails in Khūzestān and their own safe passage out of the United Kingdom."

Yeah I think a defence of fair comment would probably succeed ( as amended bu the Defamation act 2014 )

I thought all this was in Perth - was I misled ?

and shouldnt it be finished event ?

surely a mod must get involved

SYmpthy for all involved - when the IRA were taking hostages, there was a reasonable chance of getting out alive - or does my memory deceive me ?

I apologise for introducing the idea that their was a friendly fire incident during the Iranian embassy seige. My intention was not to mislead ABers, it was a genuine misremembering of the incident. I should have fact checked before I posted, and now regret that I didn't, as it now looks foolish.
Peter, it has been moved away from the bushfire zone in Perth so as to be nearer to Bondi.
and now regret that I didn't, as it now looks foolish.

*there*

Sorry........... but it had to be done.
thanks Gromit, we've all done it.......
Yes, thanks Gromit, I thought I might has missed something.
