Stardust was married three times: firstly to Iris Caldwell (sister of Rory Storm), who was an ex-girlfriend of both George Harrison and Paul McCartney, having grown up with them in Liverpool; and secondly to the actress Liza Goddard. He was married to the actress and choreographer Julie Paton at the time of his death.
I loved his singles in 174- Jealous Mind, Red Dress and My Coocachoo, although I must admit they sound a bit weak now. I seem to remember that it was actually his manager Peter Shelley that sang on My Coocachoo.
Anyway, i was surprised that the news stories on Radio 2 and 4 tonight that I heard on my way home from work referred to his chart career as starting in 1974 and didn't mention that he (Bernard Jewry) had also had several hits as Shane Fenton, although I also recall that the original Shane Fenton died and Bernard Jewry stepped in
