I'm not excusing what he did, but he needs a job. Should he stay on the dole forever? If he got work as a road sweeper or in a chip shop, would we be bothered? Why shouldn't he work in a decent restaurant? It doesn't sound as if he is a habitual preyer on young girls, and he made a terrible mistake through lack of maturity.

Gness - "Well....hadn't thought of it like that, Sqad and Jordy......seems like I will have to welcome the paedophile who abused me...and his family....into my home as I do my gay relatives and friends....."

I think Sqad is looking for a bucket of petrol / bonfire interface as a wind-up, and the fewer people, especially those with direct experience of the issues he so casually dismisses, who rise to the bait, the better.
Baldric - "\Baldric - "//A rapist, yes, not a paedophile//
Ah, I see, well guess that'll be ok then!"
I don't imagine ummm was trying to say that one is less than the other, or indeed that either is remotely acceptable.\\

Well, Silly me, why didn't I think of that?"

No idea - but your post suggested that you didn't - unless there was an irony intended which I missed?
andy...there you go again..........rubbishing any alternative view to yours............and this time, before you have heard the opinion.
Do you know, Andy....I am aware of that....and the response from Jordy is to be expected....

But I have just finished decorating my house.....there isn't a wall I can kick to vent my anger at such ignorance...whatever the reason....xx
Sqad - "andy...there you go again..........rubbishing any alternative view to yours............and this time, before you have heard the opinion."

i did nor 'rubbish' your view, I merely pointed out that i think you are beling deliberately provocative.

If I am mistaken, and you genuinely hold such abhorrent views, then I will live with that.
gness......before you kick the wall:

Both are sexual dysfunctions that result in sexual attraction to people who you could not possibly have children with, so they are inherently similar

Obviously not all gay people are paedophiles, but as you would expect there is a large overlap. Gay men are approx twice as likely to be paedophiles as strait men.

Have you got a link to that er ...fact, sqad?
Sqad - "Both are sexual dysfunctions that result in sexual attraction to people who you could not possibly have children with, so they are inherently similar

That's cleared up any misunderstanding there then!

" ... but as you would expect there is a large overlap. Gay men are approx twice as likely to be paedophiles as strait men."

Do you have any evidence to back that up Sqad - or have you read it somwhere?

I am not fencing, I am genuinely interested in what forms your viewpoint.
We've been over that debate before; there is a difference between homosexuality and paedophilia such that the "overlap" is somewhat of a trick, really. Boys are more often victims than girls, perhaps, but that doesn't mean at all that the (predominantly male) abusers are gay. Liking men, and liking boys, are two wholly different things.
Sqad - "Try that."

I have.

Did you read the last sentence?

Woould you like to read it again?

"This, of course, would not indicate that androphilic males have a greater propensity to offend against children."

jim360 - "there is a difference between homosexuality and paedophilia such that the "overlap" is somewhat of a trick, really."

Exactly.

Paedophillia is about control, power and abuse.

Last time I spoke to any of my gay friends, they didn't seem to going anywhere near that aspect of their sexuality - probably because it doesn't exist.

Sqad - Can you honestly believe that a paedophile / victim relationship in any way resembles the relationship between an adult same-sex couple?
Yes...I noticed that, but was not sure what they meant by "Androphillic males"

\\\This suggests that the resulting proportion of true pedophiles among persons with a homosexual erotic development is greater than that in persons who develop heterosexually.\\\

This penultimate sentence seemed to make more sense.
Go jack!!!!!!!!

Irony, Moi?
You miss something, it could happen I guess, even to the Holier than thou!
Sqad - "Yes...I noticed that, but was not sure what they meant by "Androphillic males"

Androphilia and gynephilia are terms used in behavioral science to describe sexual orientation, as an alternative to a gender binary homosexual and heterosexual conceptualization. Androphilia describes sexual attraction to men or masculinity; gynephilia describes the sexual attraction to women or femininity.

If you don't know what your 'evidence' means, might be an idea to either - find out what it means or, don't quote it lest you be tripped up and hoist by your own petard.
Baldric - "You miss something, it could happen I guess, even to the Holier than thou!"

Irony is easy to miss in print Baldric - no need to stick your tongue out over it.
Surely it all boils down to protecting CHILDREN from such cunning perverts.

Clearly you copied and pasted your definition and yes, I will take you advice in future.
